The trouble with a lot of Brian's work is that it is repeated in many of his titles, this book is no exception.
A reasonable book, but like many of Brian's titles has some errors , some tutors dislike Brian's work for this reason.
A lot of the text can be found in the Electrical installation title.
The title by Ray Tricker is better suited for someone who wants to fully understand the new amended regulations.
When students purchase text books they are looking for new information, so when they buy, say 5 of these new pocket books they are not going to be pleased that the same written text is in most of them.
Students also buy books to try and work through different examples but in these books the worked examples are the same.
Some of the graphics are good but equally some are a bit amateurish.
On the plus side the book is not to expensively priced.
Ok as a one off but not if you are purchasing other titles by the same author.

Whilst generally a reasonable book, there are a considerable number of errors. These include referencing incorrect tables and regulation numbers, and a number of simple typographical errors, e.g. stating that the minimum diameter for the main protective bonding conductor should be 60mm sq, rather than 6. Whilst the more experienced will instantly spot these errors, they could lead to confusion to the novice, who, after all, the book is aimed at. One particular area of concern is in the Inspection and Testing section where, in the process of determining R1+R2, the reader is advised to temporarily link together the line conductor and the CPC. At no point is any emphasis placed on the fact the circuit must be isolated from the supply before this procedure is attempted!

I was looking for a book to help me understand what had to be done to upgrade older domestic wiring to current regulations. The book provided some useful information but overall it was a hotch pot of information and did not serve my purpose. It appeared to me that it should be read with the regulations in one hand and this book in the other.

This is a good informative book that goes over what you need to know it's basic and not really indepth.
Good book to purchase if your looking at taking your 17th edition, the book was good quality and arrived on time.

Completely adequate for the purpose; i.e.checking out that proposed wiring installation will meet all legal requirements and ensuring no alterations are required; reasonable cost cf buying new.

Found the book useful in the concept of the
regulations & some useful information in there.
This is not a substitute for the real thing though.

Not clearly written. Illustrations not clear either. Simply creates confusion. Books seems to designed to show how clever the author is.

This is a good book for city and guilds 2391. Takes a few reads but would recommend it to others. I got my 2391 and this helped.
