I bought this prior to having an operation as I knew that afterwards I would not be able to use my normal modelling bench and needed something portable that could be used on my knees.

It has proved to be very useful. Made from strong plastic there is not much flex to it so it makes a good stable work surface.

The only downside to it for me is that the holes are just aimed at Humbrol products (Hardly surprising considering the manufacturer) and of course are totally the wrong size for other manufacturers paints that I use. They are useful for keeping small parts in whilst working on something though.

The underside of the tray is covered with reinforcing ribs, rather than being flat, to save plastic and can be a bit knobbly when used as a lap tray.

Standard A4 cutting mats fit the recess nicely so there is no need to buy the overpriced Humbrol version.

Overall I have found it to be very useful and it should give many years service

I bought this for my husband to use whilst he paints his models but sadly for him it's not made it into his Manshed yet as I keep 'borrowing' it to use whilst making my jewellery and other crafty things. It's sturdy and with a cutting mat a fab and much needed addition to anyone to enjoys making things tool collection. The paint holders are the perfect size for humbrol paints of course but also for other pots to keep beads etc in and the grooves accommodate tools. I admit I was worried it would be too flimsy but worry not it's perfect. I highly recommend this to any modeler/ crafter.

This is a great product along with the Humbrol AG9155 A4 Cutting Mat. It is a decent size and keeps things nice and tidy. You can pick up your work and carry it to other locations in the house when needed. Good for younger modellers which will please mum when things have to be put away. It is made well and is sturdy. I would recommend it to all modellers of any age.

This is a really useful tool. With spaces for paints, thinners, brushes, etc everything is to hand. Moreover it protects the surface of wherever you are working. To use it for more general modelling you need to buy the Humbrol A4 cutting mat (and actually I think they should bundle it into this product).

The recess holes for paints are double recessess, so the two different sizes of pots will fit. This is great if you are using Humbrol paints. If you also like to experiment with other paint suppliers, then you may find that their paints will fall over if you try and stand them in the Humbrol recessess.

I haven't yet warmed to working on the workstations surface. My preference is still to use the larger surface area of a breakfast tray. I do admit that haing XXL large hands may have something to do with this.

I have found the workstation of some use for keeping one of my latest projects tidy and it is easy to relocate which is very important. In time it will justify its price I'm sure.

The price my seem a lot to some buyers, but do unstand that other manufacturers offerings are much more expensive and if you shop around you will not be able to find much of a discount anywhere on this Humbrol product. Your time would be better spent shopping around for models and paints.

I have seen the workstation on sale in a couple of other colours. This is the only colour shown for sale on the Airfix website, so I assume the others are discontinued lines.

Very useful, keeps everything in one place and makes it easy to move out of the way for meals etc when using kitchen table. I would have given 5 stars but it is a bit expensive for what it is...just a glorified tray really.

Bought this item having seen it advertised as a companion to other humbrol products and the idea for buying it being to have a clear work area. I can now say that it keeps my modelling tidier and avoids marking the top of my home office area. I can also leave the items part done and in one place, move the whole thing if I need to use the desk before or after a work session. The holders and slots keep brushes, tools and paints close to hand or set up for a particular part of my modelling such as a decal session or initial build. Generally this is contributing to better more ordered modelling.

Good one Humbrol / Amazon

OK open the box to find a biggish bit of moulded plastic/ Is it expensive for what it is, maybe, but it's a great idea and I know it really will help me as I can shift my model stuff around very easily know. Well designed and seems pretty robust. I think it's a great idea.Expensivwe, maybe, but the thing has been well thought out and with the cutting board added is really useful

My son is into Airfix models and we were frustrated that our kitchen trays were slowly getting paint and glue on them as he used them to protect the table where he works. This tray has resolved that brilliantly. The Humbrol cutting mat (worth purchasing) sits inside this tray as do the pains, brushes and glue - all in one place. Great design and a success with son and parents too! Not sure that it can be scored as 'fun' but given that it encourages him to do his airfix models I guess it is - he certainly gets a great deal of enjoyment from making the models - the tray just assits.
