Another year, another top-drawer blues/rock album from Joe Bonamassa. It's almost becoming boring, just how great this man is. Actually, in all seriousness, it'd be good if he slowed his release schedule down and worked on something truly special and game changing - I'm pretty sure he has it in him. Still, such is his talent, nearly every single album of his mercurial career is excellent and Driving Towards The Daylight is no exception. If you're reading this and have never heard of Joe, then you're probably not a fan of blues/rock, but - if for any reason you love the genre and haven't yet listened to Joe Bonamassa, then you really, really need to and this album is a good a place to start as any. Driving Towards The Daylight is an excellent example of all the different styles Joe has made his own - hard rock, ballads, blues - with a decent mixture of cover versions (by artists such as Robert Johnson, Bill Withers and Howlin' Wolf) and his own compositions, all glued together by that guitar - and he's a pretty decent singer, too. He released a live album in 2012 as well (Beacon Theatre - Live From New York) which is just as good, if not better, than this studio album and I was lucky enough to see him during that absolutely immense tour. If you need any more convincing, check out "I Got All You Need" and, especially, the guitar solo. Magnificent stuff. If you know what's good for you, buy it.

I have just got this digi-pack CD from Amazon and the Driving Towards The Daylight CD is excellent all the tracks are stand out blues numbers and you can feel the influence from other guitarists in each track but Joe seems to also put his own stamp on each track as well, right from the first track Dislocated Boy to the last Too Much Aint Enough Love the band is very skilled and tight and the Guitar playing is well simply brilliant, the only slight criticism if I dare to add is at times the guitar playing is very techniacal and lacks a slight blues depth but there is no doubting Joes ability on the guitar.
The CD comes with a excellent inner sleeve booklet with intro words from Joe and sort of a short history of the blues and the guitars he has used with his comments there is a picture of each guitar, the booklet is really interesting the only thing is the size of the text which is very small.
I would like to give the CD 4.5stars if I could but would add if you like good blues guitar music then this is a must buy from Amazon, so for under a tenner order one.

Just buy it. Honestly, I only discovered Joe recently and this is the 4th album I have purchased. After listening to them all on Spotify I simply had to own them for my collection. However much I love Amazon, I actually bought this else where for £6.99. However, I should have stuck to trusty Amazon as shipping was so slow with the other company.

As an old, old blues fanatic I am ashamed to say that I missed out on this guy. Where was he hiding? Maybe it was me with the blinkers on with a preference for root blues. But it was my loss. I was stunned by the raw power - loved it. This does me just fine - lean back, slip the headphones on with bass booster, close your eyes and enjoy.

What a fantastic album! Got to be his best one yet! I might be biased, 'cos I think the man is pure genius. A throwback to the best blues guitarists around in the sixties and seventies, with a more present feel. You can hear the influences and then it's Joe all by himself! I would recommend this to any and every one who loves to hear the blues played impeccably on guitar. And a big thumbs up to his band. I've regained my love of, and listening to, good music played well again. The music for the last decade or two had left me cold. I'm alive again! :o)

"Driving Towards The Daylight" ranks amongst Joe Bonamassa's best albums. Whilst including tracks by Robert Johnson, Howlin' Wolf and Willie Dixon, this is far from a traditional blues album but instead is a fine showcase for Joe Bonamassa's driving rock virtuosity overprinted on some old blues numbers, others by writers as diverse as Bernie Marsden, Bill Withers and John Hiatt and Joe Bonamassa himself. Surrounded by a bunch of outstanding backing musicians and with Joe Bonamassa's customary high octane guitar playing and vocals, this is a great album.

Just one listen and this becomes your favourite album...until the next Bonamassa arrives. As ever he is just brilliant and all the tracks hit the spot.

Love Bonanmassa, this album is probably one of the best things he has ever done in my humble opinion. Of course there have been absolute gems on every album he has done, but this just seems to get better and better the more airtime i give it. The whole thing seems more balanced. Having said that, have seen him twice live this year and not been blown away as in previous years, probably something to do with the size of the venues though?. Anyway, that shouldnt stop anyone buying this, its highly recommended!!!

Firstly It was a pleasant surprise to hear on this album Joe has gone back to some straightforward no nonsense blues rock.
There is no layering apparent here, its a really good album this , a good variation on styles, the title track a real beauty a balled that builds up nicely .Things kick off with dislocated boy which sets the standard for the album rocking along with a good feel as does the whole album.Yea a must buy for Bonamassa fans and blues/rock fans alike. Nice one Joe !!
