5.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly Paced Stonking Read
Having read both All the Fun of the Fair and Playground Cool, as soon as I heard there was a new offering from Mr Sinclair I one-clicked straight away without even reading the blurb.
Would that turn out be a rash decision...? Would it heck as like!

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting read
I liked the book and the development of the story and it did keep you gripped. Mitch and Rupert reminded somewhat of Win and Myron from Harlan Corben's books.

I found the language in the book confusing and lacking refinement. One minute the author is describing someone as a retired gentlemen and the next saying someone needs a piss! Made me feel that the book...

Having read both All the Fun of the Fair and Playground Cool, as soon as I heard there was a new offering from Mr Sinclair I one-clicked straight away without even reading the blurb.
Would that turn out be a rash decision...? Would it heck as like!
This book turned out to be a thoroughly stonking read! It started off pretty gently and then the story, action and indeed characters gradually built up to a pretty great crescendo which, along with the grand finale, left me almost breathless.
Like Mr Sinclair's other books, the careful use of description, along with great characterisation, meant that I could "see" the action very clearly - another one for the screen maybe?
I hear a whisper that Mitch and Rupert may return. I for one hope so...

This great story starts with a death by natural causes. It's the sad death of Emily, a young, musically talented woman and we meet Mitch and Rupert, the two men who loved her. We also discover the sleaze and corruption of small town life, with the council, the police and local businessmen all partaking in, or turning a blind eye to, bribery, indecency and all manner of nastiness. Mitch and Rupert decide to try to get justice. Mitch, an outcast all his life due to his ability to glimpse future happenings, foresees a murder and Rupert, his only friend from schooldays, joins him in trying to avert it.

The characters in this story are very well drawn. We have oily toads of council members who think they are untouchable, a keen, thorough and likable female police inspector chasing justice and the two friends, both grieving for their lost love. The plot is well constructed and story lines interwoven together. I felt the initial part, although it came in with a bang with Emily's death, built slowly but not tediously, until we realised the depth of corruption and the way justice seemed to be in favour of those with deep pockets - or nasty secrets they could spill if they didn't get their own way. This is a story of love, friendship, people battling against the disadvantages of childhood influences; it flags up so many questions. It's a thoroughly gripping read and I enjoyed it very much.

I have had this book on my Kindle for a while & had not got round to reading it but I saw a comment the author made on Goodreads so decided to start it. I have spent the last two days reading it and thought it was fabulous, I really enjoyed the relationship between Mitch and Rupert and thought the other characters were very well developed. I highly recommend this story and I will be trying another book by Jamie Sinclair.

I thought this was a very well written crime / thriller / mystery with a clear and direct style of writing that grabs your attention right from the start. The plot is completely plausible and moves along at a good pace with lots of action. The characterisation is excellent and you feel as though you are getting to know these people and you become completely drawn into their lives. The ending of the novel is cleverly written and works really well. Definitely a 5 star book and well worth reading.

Made me feel that the book hadnt been written by one person!!!

There is also pointless description added - do we need to know the breed and name of someone's dog when we arent given the owners name?!?!

On the whole an easy read

The 24 Hour Jazz Cafe is one of the most exciting books i have read in a long time, I just couldn't put it down. The two main characters in the story keep you interested as they explore and uncover sleaze, corruption and murder in a small town council. This book is full of twists and turns and keeps you guessing right until the very end.

This book is a must have. It was so gripping I had a job to put it down. I have never read a book so fast! Superbly written with an excellent twist. A nice gentle start which built up to an exciting and gripping action packed story with a brilliant finale! I would never have guessed the culprit or that some would have walked away alive. Excellent characters and descriptions, some you could like and others you would not. You could almost visualise the characters on the page as you read. It has it all Crime, Corruption and Murder ~ Brilliant. I will be definitely purchasing more of Jamie Sinclair's books. Lets hope there is more Rupert and Mitch!
