I got the first book for free and I couldn't wait to read more! This series is great for werewolf book lovers and basically anyone else. You really feel for the characters but you almost want to be a werewolf too!

These were my first kindle download. Picked these as I like supernatural/horror books. Very easy to read but as a 56 year old perhaps they were a bit tree tamer in storyline than I expected however I enjoyed them well enough to download the The Cain Chronicles the follow on and look forward to reading what Rylie and team get up to next!

Engrossing story of a teenage girl being helped, hindered and hunted as she struggles to come to terms with being a werewolf. It's a tale of love, betrayal, and the varieties of sexual awakening. The inevitable gore is dealt with fairly sensitively and the actual process of transformation into a wolf becomes more believable with repetition as our heroine faces the change at both full and new moons (presumably because a whole month is a long time to wait for further developments in a story). The werewolf as an accidental predator comes across as markedly less evil than some of the werewolf hunters.
With such a subject, suspension of disbelief is vital, but even so there are certain quibbles that I could not shake off, even as I was enjoying the story; the almost instantaneous loss and re-growth of appropriate teeth and hair, for instance. And there are deus-ex-machina elements that become more frequent as the story approaches its climax.
All the same, I found it a pretty good read, engaging enough to keep me going through all four books without a break. If there had been a fifth in the set, I would happily have read that as well.

I was surprised that this book just hooked me in. Afterall a story about a disfunctional teenager getting bitten by a werewolf while on summer camp did not make for the best plot but somehow SM Reine manages to captivate with the story that just keeps on pulling you in. I enjoyed all the books in this series immensely. Next time I meet a disfunctional teenager .....

I'm probably a little out of the age range for these books but they're all very good, readable & at times, unputdownable. Great value for money too.

I really enjoyed this series ! It was well written and very descriptive you could just imagine grey mountain and the camp! The main characters were strong and the author brought out their individuality and their physical appearance you could just picture what each of them looked like!! I will be checking out other books by this author!

Well holy crap, this was a free download and Oh my God, I loved it. I love supernatural books but the amount of detail that went into this series was incredible. The story and plot are great and the characters are brilliant. Each one has a history and you get to know them all through the story. The authors descriptions of everything, from scenery, emotions, and the werewolves transformations is so detailed you can actually picture it. I was gripped from the start, just from the initial few pages but add suspense, lots of hurt, destruction, angst, and then you have the romance and sweet love story between our heroine Rylie, and Seth, its an overall package which I couldn't put down. I cannot wait to continue reading the Cain Chronicles in which the story continues. Great read and would highly recommend.

the first book I read by this author was sacrificed in shadow. I really enjoyed this book so looked for my by the same. I was surprised to find these book came long before the one I read. so got these and wow. I totally loved them. wish I had read these first before the sacrificed in shadows. it's a bit like reading the end of books before the start. but there you go. now I'm going for the Cain chronicles before I continue with the ascension series. but as you can guess am refine is a fantastic author. when you start o e book you just have to get them all. the moon series has so many twists and turns and you cannot put them down. Really good books and so easy to read. love this author. many thanks. I'm sure your books will keep me going for some time

I actually started off by reading SM Reine's Descent Series, I didn't know this series existed. If I had I would definitely have read them in order - especially before starting the Ascension Series where the characters from these books are incorporated into the stories.

As stand alone books I enjoyed these but there weren't quite as action packed as I expected after reading some of SM Reine's later books. I will be reading The Cain Chronicles though to get the full picture. I would recommend this box set for light reading, be prepared to want to read more though if you're into the whole Werewolf thing.
