5.0 out of 5 stars Matt Skiba and the Sekrets, 7 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Babylon (MP3 Download)
"Babylon" is the first release from Matt Skiba's side project. The outcome is not too distant from Alkaline Trio and could easily be passed off as them for the most part. Those who bought Skiba's solo effort "Demos" will recoginise about half the tracks on here but a lot more polished and somewhat different. The standout tracks to me are "Luciferian Blues" and "Olivia" (the latter was "Nausea" on "Demos"). I saw Alkaline Trio for the 12th time the Saturday before this was released so you can clearly tell I am a massive Trio fan and am pretty much a fan of everything Skiba releases, this is a listen through album and would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of this genre. The inclusion of Hunter (Bassist,AFI) does'nt seem to have had too much influence on the outcome as this is essentially a Matt Skiba solo record, some may argue that some of the synth used is similar to that of Blaq Audio but that is about it. The album as a whole is fun and easy to listen to and not one bad track / filler makes it worthy of 5 stars.
