I always knew BOSE has its own approach to audio.
Usually overpriced a bit, or overpriced a lot.

I have heard all of BOSE noise canceling headphones in action, all i can say it they are good in cancelling the noise, but a pair of my own DENON AHD-2000 can easily KILL them when it comes to sound reproduction.

Bose still do not understand that clear sound is not everything.

What do you normally do when you set up your MP3 player ?
1st you will crank up the treble a bit, yes, i am talking about 16KHz section. (Treble)
2nd you will add a tad of bass
3rd you will lower mids a bit, but not always, for certain of music mids must stay flat.

While almost 90% people will tend to follow this 3 steps, another 10% accepts the sound as it is, or just do not give a .... !

.....or claims to be an audiophile....

Back to the subject.

BOSE IE2

I connected them to my iRiver H320
They sound clear, without distortion, BUT FLAT - Without any Hi frequencies
So i go to my Rockbox menu, i enter equalizer, i try to crank up 16 KHz section, and guess what - LIKE 16KHz would be just NOT SUPPORTED by IE2

There was NO difference if i would even crank 16KHz up to +20Db

I had to go to as low as 12KHz to hear the difference in Treble reproduction - you think this is weird ?

NO, it is not weird, BOSE is known from designing its products so they JUST SOUND FLAT, and you can do ....... about it. Even with good EQ and best on earth mp3 Player.

Why 5 stars then ?

Well, i have one more thing in my home, its FiiO E7.
When i connected IE2 to FiiO E7 and entered winamp on my pc, i could easily change 16KHz section and IE2 response was very good.

Treble finally became treble and songs became much more...clearer.

So lets say my iRiver is crap, and only FiiO stands up for the job....

Another thing that decided me to give it 5 stars is design. They just do not come off your ear unless you pull them out, very nice design from BOSE, and you can almost forget you have them in your ears.

To all Beats by Dr Dre headphones owners - you can put your BEATS BY DR DRE headphones/in-ear into your... (you know where)

For the price i paid (75GBP) they are worth it, but competition does not sleep........

I have recently purchased these and unfortunately I'm very disappointed in them.

If I sit in a quiet room and push the earphones in to my ears, then the sound is fantastic, the best I've ever experienced from earphones.
But the moment I take the pressure off the sound is weak and distant.

They also leak outside noise very badly.
On my usual train journey this morning I had to rewind the podcast numerous times as I couldn't hear it properly.
The only way to resolve this is to have them turned up incredibly loud.

I've tried the various different ear fittings but these make no difference.
And I have definitely placed them in to my ear correctly.
I don't think I have odd shaped inner ear, as I've used in-ear earphones for years with no issues.

I've just contacted Bose to try to get a refund.
Considering giving the QuietComfort 20i Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones a go, but am concerned that I'll spend £260 and still be disappointed.

Summary: great if you're happy to sit in a quiet room with your fingers in your ears.

Readers... I am a Bose fan and use many of the products in / around the house. Having purchased these I can tell you that they are the worst in-ear units I have ever used. Regardless of the size of ear rubber you choose to use the seal is poor. Its so poor that you lose volume and sound quality.
Frankly - I urge you to save your money and buy a cheaper set. I defy anyone to be able to distinguish the sound quality over a cheaper £20 set.
Sorry to disappoint you.

So, my friend has a pair of the same model bose earphones so I was really into getting a pair. I found a bargain pair of "used like new" ones at £60. Pretty good deal right? Wrong! They turned up in nice enough packaging but one ear was crackley and the other ear was terrible quality. Got my friend around who had the same pair, you could definitely tell they were fakes. I have had a pair of £12 JVC headphones that had better sound quality.

Sent them back. I'm sure the real ones are good, but you know the story, when you order something from amazon you are looking forward to it arriving, I had this pair of earphones and an espresso machine delivered on the same day and both were faulty. In fairness to amazon they did send out replacements for delivery by 1pm the next day. Just be wary.

I ordered these based on reviews and a trust in the product name, how wrong could I have been. Whilst admittedly I did know that they were not noise cancelling, I was not aware just how bad the external leakage from these was. A butterfly farted at the bottom of my garden and I heard it clearly whilst listening to music in my lounge. Next to no bass, extremely tinny sounding and the ear jellies are incorrectly shaped to fit into my ears (They point inwards when they really need to point outwards, I have to wear them upside down and opposite to get them to fit even partially comfortably).

If someone said they were thinking of buying these and asked my opinion, I`d tell them to save 70 odd quid and buy a cheaper set of Sennheiser ear buds
