Nothing short of a miracle
on 2 May 2012
I bought this upon recommendation from a friend who's a hairdresser, and I have been completely overwhelmed by how good it is!
At the beginning of July I bleached my hair from a black (permanent dye) to a pale near-blonde so that I could have it bright red in a temporary colour (an exciting but very damaging process). Just 4 weeks later I got bored, bleached it a bit more to sort out the roots, and applied a bright purple. I kept this for nearly 3 months, and while I enjoyed a fun change in my appearance it was so destructive to my previously shiny, smooth, well conditioned hair. I tried various different lotions and potions to try and get it into a better condition, from L'Oreal intensive conditioners, Lee Stafford protein/hair growth treatment to the more expensive brands such as, Kerastase Noctogenist voile nuit (spray) and Aveda Damage Remedy (this helped, but not a great deal at this stage). Eventually I resigned myself to having drier hair than I was used to, and just using various oils and serums to keep it looking nice, even if it was damaged.
When I got bored and dyed my hair back to black it was in a better condition but still unbelievably dry and the most annoying bit was that it was difficult to control/style. I could get it looking good but it took a lot more effort than I'd previously invested.
I was skeptical when I tried this Joico treatment as I just thought that nothing could help my hair in this state, but it really took me aback just how effective it was! From the very first application my hair actually felt like real hair again instead of this dry mane I seemed to have acquired. I really didn't think that this would be possible given the battering that my hair had taken over the previous months.
One major plus I find with this treatment is that it's not a conditioner, it is actually designed to be applied to the whole of your hair, and in doing this you do not end up with a head that looks like it's been dipped in a chip fryer (unlike other treatments I've tried). Another big advantage is that it only needs to stay on your hair for about 5 minutes or so, which makes it perfect to use every time you wash your hair (if needed). It's not essential but a 30-minute treatment is useful now and again as it may just offer a few added benefits if your hair is as abused as mine had been!
The price may seem high, but don't let it put you off, it's just a MASSIVE container! I wash my hair 2-3 times a week and still use this every single time. In the 5 months I've had it I'm only half way through, and my hair has felt completely recovered for quite a while now. It's back to its previously smooth shiny state.
I would definitely recommend this as either a preventative or restorative measure if you're planning on, or have already, bleached coloured or otherwise abused your hair!
