Tess, a corporate troubleshooter, is flying through the Bermuda Triangle when grey fog claims her aircraft and she crashes into foreign trees. Moments later she is knocked out by a remarkable man, taken to a castle that looks like Camelot and inducted into the highest echalons of a new world. She slowly learns its mythology/history, works out her relationship with the King and joins with them to save the world from being wiped out by pig-like sociopaths.
This was an excellent, well-written adventure story of a new world. The world building was thorough, the lead characters clearly presented and a well designed mythology giving rise to a plot to save the 'world'. There were no jarring errors, and a satisfying sense of completion. Dialogue was well done and natural. The relationships were sweet and thoughtful. Overall the positives substantially outweigh the negatives.
The following are some minor points. I think the title does not reflect the contents. Though there is adventure, it is not suspenseful, nor does it pack any real punches in terms of twists. In many ways the book is more middle-grade than YA in style (which would make the adventure rather than suspense a positive not a negative), and it would be interesting to see it remarketed as such (with references to sex removed). The romance held no tension, again, which would be fine if presented more as an adventure like Narnia, Potter etc.. Very American, and with simplistic adaptation to a new culture.
I found this overall to be a satisfying read, and would happily pick up further books from this author.
