1.0 out of 5 stars Infuriating, difficult to use, bug ridden, poor software
IF you can survive the horrendous user experience, avoid the plentiful bugs and "features", and fathom out the exasperating user interface where if you select a command one way it has completely different options to when you select apparently the identical command another way, you might possibly need this software to accomplish what you want to do. It is probably more...

This review is from: Adobe Creative Suite 6 Master Collection (PC) (DVD-ROM)
After owning CS3/4/5/5.5 and now purchasing CS6 Master Collection I am truly impressed with the major changes Adobe has made over the years. Each one of the program's have dramatically changed making my job a hell of a lot easier. New tools in Photoshop, Premier and After Effects allow me to work on the one graphic using all three program's at the same time! Creating the Graphic in PS then opening it in AE, once I'm finished tweaking the graphic I save it and open it in Premier and add it to my project and if something is not right I can save it go back to PSD and/or AE and change it! It then automatically updates it in all the program's making life far easier on tight schedules. The dynamic link between all the program's is fantastic and even though I don't have the best computer it runs smoothly. I have not encountered one instance where it has crashed and where I lost work which for me is the most important thing.
It is leaps and bounds above my FCP and i rarely use Avid anymore infact all my projects this year bar one have been done in Adobe CS6.

So if you can afford it I highly recommend it to anyone willing to give it a bash as you won't be disappointed!
Also if you get stuck there are a million help videos tutorials templates project files, templates and learning bases out there for you to watch, read and interact with in your own time so you will never be alone. The forums will help a great deal if you are switching from any other program to Adobe software.

Happy editing no matter what it may be; photo, video, magazine, book, PDF, movie, website, cartoon, game, logo's and much much more!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars value for money - maybe, 20 Dec. 2012

This is an excellent package and the price is resonable if, and its a BIG if, you're going to use all of the software.
If you just want photoshop and dreamweaver then this package is way too expensive but if you need a one stop shop to image editing (photoshop) vector creation (illustrator) website development (dreamweaver and flash) plus video editing (premiere). Then this is an ideal program.
Yes there are alternatives and there are cheaper programs but there is a reason that adobe is still a respected company in the print industry (much the same way that Macs are nearly always used).
Is this bunch of programs that different from previous - No, and to be honest if more people understood that you can backsave to a previous version, I probably wouldn't of purchased an upgrade.

This program also has a steep learning curve if not used before, but you can find lots of help on line if needed.
To recap if you don't need all of the programs in the package avoid it. Check out some of the other Adobe packages as the "Design & Web" or the "Design standard" may be what you need or just get the programs seperatly.

If your unsure check out the Adobe site as they offer a 30 day trial. Plus if your a designer who wants to sell his work avoid the student & teacher package it looks cheap but the terms and conditions are a nightmare.

1.0 out of 5 stars Infuriating, difficult to use, bug ridden, poor software, 28 Jun. 2012

IF you can survive the horrendous user experience, avoid the plentiful bugs and "features", and fathom out the exasperating user interface where if you select a command one way it has completely different options to when you select apparently the identical command another way, you might possibly need this software to accomplish what you want to do. It is probably more comprehensive than the competitors, but Adobe has rested on its laurels for many years and keeps tweaking its software without ever making it easy to use, properly working, let alone good software.

For example, they have, very belatedly, just proudly demonstrated that you can now edit a pdf in Acrobat and, wow, the text now wraps properly, which it used not do, such that there were video tutorials showing how to edit a pdf, but warning you that you could only sensibly change it if the new text was exactly the same length as the old text. I seem to recall that I had such basic functionality several decades ago in other software. But worse is to come: when you actually try doing it, rather than watching it on their flash demonstrations, and have proudly found the right tool in a "new and easier to find" place, an error message immediately stops you, saying that this font can't be changed. After exploring help, wahoo, there's a solution: Adobe know about this problem, but if you change it to a different font that's installed on your own computer rather than incorporated in the pdf, you will be able to change the text after all. Except it wouldn't do it when I tried, coming up with a different error message instead. So much for the "new and improved" version of Acrobat professional X. And it's not cheap!

For many tasks there are cheaper, or even free, products that can do most of what Adobe's software can do. Sadly there are some things that still need Adobe software to do, so many of us keep pouring large quantities of good money after bad into their coffers in the forlorn hope that the latest version will accomplish it without driving us any madder.
