2.0 out of 5 stars Labouring the point
The content is interesting but not new. Pro US bias very strong. It is not the greatest western country in the world. There are sweeping generalisations about Europe. One can only assume the author is not widely travelled. The grammar is bad. It has been very badly edited. There is too much repetition. However, it may save some gullible young girls from a terrible fate.

I found this book very repetitive and the mis spelling of so many words was enough to entice me give up reading it.

I am finding it difficult to put this book down! Such harrowing stories and a brilliant book to refer to if ever anyone finds themselves in this situation.

1.0 out of 5 stars A very poor attempt at Anthropology, 12 Dec 2013
This review is from: Escape! From An Arab Marriage: Horror Stories of Flight From Abusive Muslim Husbands (Kindle Edition)
Firstly, the blurb needs to change: it basically says that the author's experience is the norm across ALL marriages to Arab men.
Secondly, why is marital abuse / relationship trauma deemed to be a Middle Eastern trend? Oh, because it never occurs in the West?

This is definitely bias writing and a very poor attempt at Anthropology. Unimpressive, generalist, and desperate.

The book certainly opens your eyes to the culture of the Middle East. Clearly anyone involved with people from these areas should try to get to know what they could be entering into, especially where the lives of their children could be at risk. I would recommend this to anyone that is interested because of a situation they Re in, or just out of general interest.

A true reflection on Islamic laws and the dominance of men within Islam.
Very good examples of how women are treated as animals and children like women are possessions.
Honesty about the treatment of women and children in Saudi Is refreshing. This is a warning to all free thinking women in our society to stay away from friendship with these men who are callous barbarians and who are encouraged by Islamic teaching to lie, carry out brutal act, take part in all sexual perversion and even murder women and children in the name of their god .
Would recommend all women read this book to be aware of forming any relationships with these men.

Dont bother to read. The writer gave a quick write up of her experience but most of the first half of the book was bits from other biographies on this cross culture marriages / children and the 2nd half of the book was all information on organisations / information that may be able to help you

1.0 out of 5 stars Racist and untrue book, 8 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Escape! From An Arab Marriage: Horror Stories of Flight From Abusive Muslim Husbands (Kindle Edition)
I would give this book zero stars if I could and would advise people not to waste their money on it.
I was amazed and disgusted at the whole content, ALL Arab/ Muslim men do this, ALL Arab/Muslim men do that, how bigoted and racist to make statements like that !
I lived in an Arab country for ten years and found the people, both men and women, to be lovely, friendly and hospitable and NEVER witnessed any of the things she/he wrote about.
I just wish that America had even some of the moral values that the Arab people have. How can you lump them all together as wife beating terrorists ? How ridiculous.
I would love to know a little more about this author, she/he seems to have a "hidden agenda " ???
