I compared this to the Samsung 46" and ended up with this. The picture to me looked more natural and the unit simply looks better. The stand is solid and stylish. The unit itself weighs a lot less than the 42" Plasma it replaces !

It has a really great picture in 2D or 3D ... it is no larger as a unit really than my 'old' 42" Plasma even though it is 47" as the picture goes almost to the edge of the casing.

It is easy to set up. Great straight from the box though the settings were too high - which is easily adjusted.

The sound without an A/V amp is Ok but nothing to write home about. I have hooked up the set to my A/V amp so Netflix on the TV pumps sound to the A/V amp via an optical cable.

The remote control seems OK to me though some don't like it.

I think if you are in the market for a top of the range LED TV then this will not disappoint ! I am very pleased with my purchase. Do look around for price thought - I got mine £200 cheaper than Amazon and have since found another retailer who is £350 less ... though Amazons price is still 1-200 less than the normal high street places.

I bought this from a local independent retailer yesterday for £2000 with a 3D blu ray player thrown in. I am blown away by this product it is absolutely fantastic. The built in freesat has excellent picture quality and even I managed to network it so I can view our photos on it from my PC. The web browser is very good and you tube works well. Quite a few apps thrown in. The 3D is stunning, I was never convinced before until I saw the demo in the shop. Very very pleased with this purchase. I know the price will drop on the run up to Xmas but what the heck. I had been considering a Sony NSZ media player to go with my ageing 40" sony TV but so glad I didn`t and took the plunge. This has the best picture quality I saw during my hunt yesterday and that included visits to PC world, John Lewis, Currys, Comet and my local outlet where I made the purchase. Oh, it has a 5 year parts and labour warranty as well and my dealer does the repairs in house as they are Panasonic repair centre.

I was unsure whether or not the extra expense of an all dancing, all singing 3D Smart TV was justifed. It took only seconds of viewing to convince me. Integrates seamlessly with my home network so that it can access music and photos/videos from my hard drive. (Installed a wifi repeater because of the distance from the router but that was down to my existing wifi kit being a bit long in the tooth).
PIcture quality and functionality superb. 3D with active 3D glasses is brilliant. Purchased with a Sound Bar and a Blu Ray player by same company. Faultless integration of units.
Only regret is the shortage of 3D TV programming on BBC/mainline TV broadcasting

I spent an hour staring at a football match in a shop before I chose the Panasonic TXL47WT50B. I had gone in planning to buy a 55" LG screen; but was blown away by the picture on this screen. I found similar sized TV's over saturated and the LG I had gone in to buy didn't handle the fast footballers as well as the Panasonic and that sealed the deal for me. Switched off the panasonic has an attractive look on its curved silver stand; or wall mounted thanks to both a slim bezel and short depth. For wall mounting the connections are all nicely arrange so that none of them stand out when against the wall; rather they flow with the set.

When you have it plugged in the Panasonic showed a rock solid picture; tracking with the players and handling wide ranges of contrast and colour handling. Getting it back home feeding it HD content from Bluray, Apple TV and Netflix the processing in the TB maintains excellent images when fed HD content. You really can see strands of hair and skin texture. The upscaler for standard definition content does a great job of interpolating the picture to fill the screen; you will know its not HD but its easily watchable. Switch to 3d and the Panasonic has two frequencies to avoid flicker from any lights you have in the room; its the third active 3d screen I have and its the best yet - this is clearly an evolving technology and each I have had surpasses the last. Panasonic have included a 2d-3d converter which was new to me; and takes advantage of the dual core CPU in the television, I had mixed success with it. Fed Prometheus  the film looked as good as it did in the cinema; with no hint of flickering from the glasses or cross talk. As with most all flat panel TV's the sound is thin; Panasonic have tried to make it sound better - but a soundbar would be a good partner for this TV to do justice to the screen.

Switching to live TV; the TXL47WT50B gets content to you on two fronts; with Freesat HD and Freeview HD. So if you live in a poor signal area you can connect your TV to a satellite dish and still get a solid free to air picture. If you still can't find anything to watch you can connect the TXL47WT50B to the internet using the built in wifi or ethernet connections once setup; pressing Internet on the remote opens a world of smart content including BBC iPlayer, Netflix and a surprisingly good web browser which even plays flash videos. In the box there are two remotes; a standard candy bar and a touch sensitive controller; both are trumped by downloadable apps for Apple iOS and Android devices. The app remotes making entering text for web browsing easy; and have a show off media sharing feature for videos and photos or playing games in the smart tv function.

With the TXL47WT50B Panasonic have delivered an exceptional LED TV; first rate video processing and screen combine to deliver a consistently excellent picture and linked up with great Smart TV features into sturdy, light weight and low energy TV. So why 4 stars; well it really is expensive but when you see the picture you will see its worth it.

This TV is fantastic, the picture is magic!! really easy to set up, Web, Skype, broadband set up etc, very easy.
iphone Apps. ipad etc easy to link to this TV.
The TV is only 25mm thick & a big and is all the connections are in the SIDE or facing down keeping the thickness within the 25mm great !!

The only minus is the sound, takes some setting up, can be a bit thin!!

After doing all the usual checks with other makes, of similar TV's in Comet, Curry's, PC World. The Panasonic TX-L42WT50B was by far the best picture

Love it !!

Having waited a long time to save up the dosh to order a top-line TV, I'm glad to say I've had no issues at all with this model. The TV looks superb and now that I have it mounted flush to my wall it really does look like a picture and the 55" size is soon lost by not imposing in the room. I have it connected to my Yamaha amplifier (RX-A2010) so I don't use the in-built speakers which won't obviously match a dedicated amplifiers capabilities.
Picture quality is superb especially in HD with Blu-ray playback stunning. The TV has an improved Viera Connect Service with a basic Internet app included, I have earlier Panasonic models with Viera Connect and just wish Panasonic would keep these as up-to-date as the 2012 models...??
This model is now superceeded by the WT60 model soon to be realeased but when I compared the two there isn't enough new "toys" to justify new model prices!!!
If you can, pick one of these WT50's up and I don't think you'll be disappointed....

Fabulous TV, very happy with it, good picture, sound not so good but its so slim its not going to be as there is no room for decent speakers. Have it connected to my B&O system so the sound is great. Also have it on my network so I can stream content from my Synology or Seagate 'server'. Only negatives for me are that it doesn't have the ITVplayer, my understanding is that Samsung have the rights to that until sometime this year, and it doesn't have a flash player so even with internet connectivity you can't stream any TV channel, you have to have the relevant player 'app' installed on the TV so at the moment its only BBC!
I have since bought a second Panasonic Blu-ray player DMR-BWT735 and a Samsung Blu-ray player (I already have a Panasonic Blu-ray player DMR-BW780). The Samsung has most of the on-demand apps so you can play the on-demand TV channels through the Samsung on the TV but it won't let you stream anything across a network. However, the 735 is brilliant and with the TV I can play anything on either the 735 or the 780 across the network as both devices allow streaming. The Panasonic functionality is excellent and with the 735 and the app on your smart phone and some set up on the 735 you can set it to record programs from anywhere in the world where you can get a phone signal!

I had done a lot of research prior to buying this TV and it was a straight toss up between this and the Sony KDL55HX853. This came out on top due to the greater number of features and 2 x bundled 3d glasses even though the Sony had reviewed better in most places. I am not disappointed in my purchase it is a great TV that pumps out amazing visuals and the 3d is faultless with little to no crosstalk. I have one grumble and it is its handling of standard def TV which looks a bit smeary and fuzzy, thus the 4 star rating. The TV looks absolutely stunning with its tiny bezel and stunning stand, there have been some reviews on Amazon bemoaning the build quality but to me there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Add in a great price and next day delivery from the ever impressive Amazon and I am happier than a Pig in ****!
