I wont be reviewing the whole PS3 system itself as we all know how great they are - this is a PS3 but in glorious Scarlet Red. It does everything the normal black PS3 320GB does but is presented in a 'scarlet red' case with two matching dual shock controllers. There are very minor differences in styling - the SONY logo on the front of the red console is embossed rather than printed on like on the black console. Also the PS3 logo on top is embossed and silver not just embossed like the black one. Apart from the colour and the minor differences I just stated its the same great console with 3D support and full HD gaming. The finish is very nice - it has a slight sparkle to it if you look at it from an angle in direct light. If you want something a bit different I say go for it - especially as you get the two matching controllers included. I needed another PS3 and this fitted the bill perfectly as it brightens up underneath my TV area as everything is so black lately! It also makes a nice talking point as not many people will have one. Overall - its a little bit more money BUT you do get the special colour and the extra controller so I think its worth it.

My first PS3 was a black Fat PS3.
Then I changed to a black PS3 Slim.
After that I got the white PS3 Slim.
And now I got this red one.

And this scarlet red PS3 is the best of all. The colour is really beautiful. A dark red, with 2 red controllers for a good price.

I am also sure that this PS3 isnt as loud as the other systems I had. and this red ps3 isnt becoming as hot as the other ones. (sorry for my bad english)

but this ps3 is never loud or hot.

Fantastic machine! Have purchased the scarlet red 320GB to replace my old 40GB ps3. looks wonderful, and comes with two red matching controllers, great value!

Bought it to replace my original 60gb unit and was amazed at how quiet it is, the console is almost completely silent.
It's a great shade of red and really stands out from all the other items in the room.
You also get two controllers costing up to £50 each, so at £230 it's a no brainer

This is my 4th PS3 slim ive had 160gb and 250gb slims,when there first came out then they faulty.I bought the Silver Slim which was ok that was faulty.Then I knew the PS3 Slim Scarlet Red model,bought it great colour its differnt to all the boring black.Two controllers gd extra there are generally expensive anyway.I would recommend to anyone who is thinking about buying or replacing there console.Will become rare to pick one later on,also it matches my Red PSP 3000 bonus and looks gd.What can I say as red is my fav colour.

Basically cost more than your average ps3 but I am glad and proud I chose this one over other ps3 consoles. My favorite color is red and you get two controllers and I'm not one to settle. 320gb is more than I could possibly fathom ever using but glad I always have that option and security. Only downside is can't play ps or ps2 games but that's not the amazingly awesome red consoles Fault!

I bought this new Red 320GB PS3 Slim as my older original 120GB slimline was on it's way out, and becoming very unresponsive.

At first I thought it was an un-needed purchase and I felt it may not be worth the price over my last Playstation, as it was still usuable. As soon as the package arrived I suddenly felt excited as it was packaged very nicely and arrived earlier than expected. Upon first opening the PS3 I noticed the controllers, which are the same as a usual PS3 controller, but the red finish feels much more artsy and it goes very well with the Playstation itself, which looks brilliant by my TV, at the moment being black and boring so the red really stands out among the crowd of gadgets.

Looking at it from a replacement perspective after turning it on I noticed the sound the device was making was almost un-noticeable, the fan couldn't be heard unless you were very close to the Playstation and this was the same when it was reading disks, loading games and the like. My old device used to crash or freeze a lot, especially in games like Skyrim, however I have never had any issues with this, or over-heating issues so far. Loading times were actually a lot faster, especially when accessing the XMB menu in-game, where before it used to lag slightly when sending messages or viewing trophies.

I had decided to move over my last playstation onto this one, and I was worried about this at first because I was unsure what would happen, what wouldn't be transferred and panicked that it might go as slow as the older PS3, however after inserting an ethernet cable between the two consoles, and performing the transfer it was as if the new PS3 WAS the old one. It brings everything through as it were, so you would believe you were using the older console.

As a last touch, the PS3 engraving on the console has a metallic finish, rather than just an indent on the old models which looks fantastic around with the overall finish.

I actually decided to give my old PS3 to a friend after, however looking at a local gamestore, I would have been able to sell it for around £70.00, which would have meant that to upgrade the device by more than double the space, a better design, speed, performance and overall experience it would cost only £170.00, but with this you get two red playstation controllers (2 x £35) and an extended warranty, it really works well for the price.

My only negativity about the product would be with the lack of a HDMI cable, but I know this is the case with all other Playstation models, and generally with other consoles in the market at the moment, so I can't really bundle this as a flaw, but I think it would 'complete' the set as most gamers these days will be using one.

If i am getting one of these and i live in the USA, is it going to affect the system if i have to switch the power cord to the US plug version?

I am not going to criticise the system itself as I have had two PS3's myself and love the platform to the max. I invested in the initial 60 gig 'George Foreman' launch model which cost an absolute bomb at the time and then I upgraded to a 160 gig slim close on a couple of years ago now which I got at a bargain £170 from somewhere else as they were doing a 20% off all consoles promo and also used a staff discount card from a friend who works for this certain supermarket to obtain another 15% off on top of that.

So there is the background to what I'm about to say, I myself found the regulation plain black design boring to say the least and was determined the exterior design of my new slim would be totally different when I bought it. Thus I would never have been duped in to buying a white, silver, red or any other colour PS3 that Sony released because at the end of the day yeah it's different but not that different as it's still a mass market release.

Of course you can buy skins to 'dress up' your console, but in reality they are just glorified stickers anyone can buy as they are mass market too so once again it hardly makes your machine unique. I went out of my way to get my current PS3 as cheap as possible because I had already decided to send it off to a console customisation specialist, of which there are a few about these days, and spent around £100 having the console and one controller sprayed/powder coated to my own specific design.

There is not one person who hasn't said "wow" or words to that effect and asked where I got it from the moment they set eyes on it which by definition is surely the reaction anyone who owns a different console hopes to get when friends/visitors see it. So my advice is simple, spend a bit less on a basic black model and spend a bit more on having it customised to your own personal tastes so it truly is a one off.
