Alan Silvestri reunites with Marvel after Captain America, to score their biggest film yet. This is a very solid score, with Silvestri thankfully creating an Avengers Theme, which is something I've been clamouring for. You can really hear his work from Captain America, but tracks like "Stark Goes Green" show he really understands each character and the sound associated with them, really enhancing Joss Whedon's great take on each character. Each of the characters can be heard in this score, and that mixed with great emotional pieces like "A Promise", a great theme and decent action music makes for a great score, that works better when complementing the film.

There are a few stand-out tracks in this album, such as 'Helicarrier', 'A Little Help', 'Performance Issues' and 'The Avengers', and they are all solid, epic and fun. Perhaps not the subtlest of music, but effective and appropriate to the scenes in the film (often some of the best scenes too, unsurprisingly). That said, there are a number of not terribly memorable tracks, and also a number of repetitive ones... and there's some overlap there too.
It's still an effective and very enjoyable soundtrack experience and worth it for the better tracks.
