This review is from: The Sail Weaver (Kindle Edition)
The good thing about the Sail Weaver, despite the complex idea of having tall ships in space (and making that downright bizarre, almost silly notion, work well) is that it is a tremendously simple concept that makes the whole affair work. Muffy brings the reader through the dynamics of space travel with tall ships, how the sails are built, why they are important and how valued the Weavers are.

Once in space the story really picks up and I often found that an hour or two would turn into three hours or four without knowing where the time had gone. The story is fast-paced and forever keeps the reader guessing just who, in a cast of dozens of likely suspects, is gunning for Tristan (our hero with so few friends in such a dangerous place). The supporting cast, including the naval officers (both loved and hated), the Dragon (Tristan's good friend and life-long addict of grapefruit) and the Weavers are all well-written and different in their own aspects. None of them feel like filler characters, you can tell they each have their own flair and can almost feel them still going about their day-to-day lives when you're reading a section they are not involved in.

All in all, a very enjoyable, light-hearted sci-fi tale. Eagerly awaiting the sequel.
