5.0 out of 5 stars Firewall testing :), 2 April 2012
This review is from: Firewall Hacking Secrets For Security Professionals (HackerStorm Penetration Testing Guides Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
If you would like to know about firewall or get an understanding, I would recommend this book. The part I like the best is "what this book is not" most books dont tell you after you read the entire contents and then figure out "why did i buy this book?"

5 stars for straight to the point and no beating round the bush...worth getting !! Thank you to the author!

Interesting little book aimed at pen testers and those hiring them. Interesting for the lay-person too, for someone looking for an insight into this secure world.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great ebook on managing and auditing firewalls the right way, 30 Mar. 2012

This review is from: Firewall Hacking Secrets For Security Professionals (HackerStorm Penetration Testing Guides Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
Whether you are a relative newcomer to penetration testing or a seasoned security professional you'll not be disappointed. This eBook provides an insightful look into what exactly is required for managing and auditing firewalls from initial design right up to implementation.

In the book the author pulls no punches in highlighting the fact that customers are invariably short changed by some companies providing sub-standard testing which ultimately put their businesses at risk.

One of the criticism of other firewall books, is that they tend to focus on one particular vendor (Cisco, SonicWALL etc), this book is vendor neutral which is very beneficial for companies that use many different types of firewalls in their estate.

If you provide penetration testing or audit firewalls, like myself you may come away reviewing your current testing methodology and include some of the recommendations and advise provided by the author.

As hinted in the book, this is the first in a series. I very much look forward to the next subject if it's as informative as this read.

No nonsense look at firewall security. Hope that they'll keep updating this book as technology develops like a firewall bible. Well written and factually presented rather than creating mystique and bamboozling the reader. Need to understand firewall security or audit it? Buy this book.
