5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to Kill, hard to get
One of the earlier Steven Segal films and also one of the better ones. Impossible to get in the shops. The story of a cop in a coma for seven years and regaining consciousness. He then goes on the hunt for the senator and the crooked cops who murdered his wife with the help of the nurse from the hospital who took care of him.Plenty of action and violence, quality martial...

3.0 out of 5 stars If action's your thing then add this to your collection.
Before Seagal found fame with "Under Seige" he made a lot of low budget action flicks which, if you were to leave the room halfway through one, was replaced with another before your return, you would be forgiven for not realising. Yet Hard To Kill does have quite an interesting story behind the "kick ass violence" from Seagal, which you'll find...

5.0 out of 5 stars Maybe the best Steven Seagal movie 'F*** You and Die', 4 Sep 2003
I have just recently purchased 'Hard to Kill' from this site and Im very glad as it provided me with classic Steven Seagal not these terrible new films he has made such as 'Ticker' and 'The Foreigner'. It also contains the immortal line 'F*** You and Die' which epitamises Steven Seagal completely.
If you enjoy a good violent action flick youll like this. The supporting actor Coffin is suberb also.
Seagal acts quite well also. The bad guys are bad. Seagal breaks arms and necks with a sick passion. Its great. Just turn off your mind and enjoy the action.
I conclude that if youre a Steven Seagal fan you MUST buy this film and if youre not a Steven Seagal fan youll enjoy it anyway. Hell, even if yopu hate Seagals guts youll not mind this film.
Buy it from here (its so rare you cant find it anywhere else) you wont regret it.

Trivia.
1)This was filmed with the title "Seven Year Storm" & publicized in several trade magazines with that name, Warner Bros. decided to re title the finished pic "Hard to Kill" to make it sound more like a slam-bang action film.
2)Steven Seagal & Kelly LeBrock were married at that time.
3)The 17 February 1989 draft of the screenplay credits Steven Pressfield & Ronald Shusett & Steven Seagal as writers. Pressfield & Shusett are not credited in the final film & Seagal only received an acting credit.
4)The theatrical trailer shows three deleted scenes; Trent saying "He's toast, do you understand" to his men, Storm saying "Take that to the bank" line (after he kills Trent in alternate ending) & parts of original ending which had Storm, Andy & Sonny at a funeral for O'Malley.
5)Craig R. Baxley was offered to direct but passed on it.
6)While Senator Vernon Trent is making a live appearance, a billboard of Do the Right Thing (1989) can be seen in the background.

What's The Story.
Waking from a lengthy coma, a Los Angeles cop named Mason Storm swears revenge on the crooked cops, vicious hoodlums & the corrupt Senator who murdered his wife & child & put him to sleep for seven years.

Timelord Thoughts.
This is Seagals second action movie & is a excellent entertaining action movie with a good storyline that has well written character's plus some unintentionally funny lines & features cool camera angles & tightly paced action directed by (Nighthawks) director Bruce Malmuth.

Steven Seagal is amazing in this film as he kicks ass, breaks bones, jams a pool cue in a villains neck, shoots bad guy's & spouts off lots of cool one liners while (The Woman In Red & Weird Science) actress Kelly LeBrock, is a very beautiful woman & does well enough here as coma nurse Andy Stewart who shares a good chemistry with her then husband Steven Seagal.

William Sadler (Die Hard 2 - Colonel Stewart) is great casting as the corrupt Senator Vernon Trent who wants Storm murdered after Storm records incriminating video evidence of his bribery with the mob.

My only disappointment is the movie's climax which I felt was rushed as it contains very brief fight scenes & as these were the guys who murdered Storm's wife I expected a more brutal climax to what was is shown here.

Overall, Hard To Kill is a action classic that has a good storyline, well directed action & fight sequences, good memorable villains & a bad ass hard hitting Steven Seagal & is a great entertaining Friday night beer & pizza actionfest.

Timelord Rating.
8/10

Before Seagal found fame with "Under Seige" he made a lot of low budget action flicks which, if you were to leave the room halfway through one, was replaced with another before your return, you would be forgiven for not realising. Yet Hard To Kill does have quite an interesting story behind the "kick ass violence" from Seagal, which you'll find yourself strangely transfixed to. Kelly Le Brock's acting is a little shakey but she does seem to work quite well with Seagal (they met and married through this film after all). To sum up Hard To Kill is probably the best of the Seagal films, save Under Seige, and if your one for action and revenge then this is the film for you. Worth a watch.
