This review is from: Schopenhauer: Philosophy in an Hour (Kindle Edition)
This book has served as my introduction to Schopenhauer, so I can't vouch for the fairness or otherwise of its representation of his life & ideas.

I can say, though, that it is written with clarity and conciseness, and that I have come away - yes, in an hour - with what I trust is the beginning of a working knowledge of the Will and Representation.

Paul Strathern's tone might be described as ... wry? This is leavening, sometimes amusing, and sometimes, perhaps, a little irritating: I wonder does he let himself get in the way at times?

However, at least as a beginner, you will learn enough to make the read worthwhile, and perhaps, as has been my experience, you will be inspired to further Schopenhauerian exploration.
