A funny witty book that will appeal to both men and women. Read it in one sitting. Hope to see more from this author soon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay
Feels a bit like a travel log for Scotland that got mixed up with some set notes from a comedy routine. Plot was thin. Editing patchy.
Nevertheless still made me chuckle at times, so if it is on offer might be worth a look.

Very nice characterisation.

Loved the humour which was dry without being too much "laugh out loud".

Impressive debut novel and would recommend.

Some seriously funny moments that will have you laughing out loud. Hugely entertaining. Looking forward to more from the author.

This book is OK. It's readable although it takes its time getting you interested. The ending, however is a bit of an anticlimax. You're waiting for something much bigger, particularly as there's hints at other threads that go nowhere. I wouldn't read it again, though I always appreciate recognition of Bill Hicks!

Some amusing bits of this mini "buddy-roadtrip-comedy" but to be honest Brookmyre it is not. Disposable whimsical small scale novels with the occasional chuckle are fine in their place and this does satisfy some of that but it is just a bit too trivial and as in the thing about the Swedish girls in the hills mythology it is hard to care about the characters enough to recommend it to anyone
