OK, so I've now had my TV for a ninth and I must say, I love it. The screen image is just outstanding (exactly as described by a highly regarded review by Which Magazine). HD images just leap off the wall, and the incredibly thin bezel is remarkable. Make no mistake, this is a pleasure to watch every day - and a huge leap forward from my four year old so called HD Panasonic.
So why just four stars? Well, anyone paying over £1,300+ for a TV isn't just buying a TV, it's a computer with a massive screen including the ability to surf the web, watch the BBC iPlayer or let the kids mess around with apps.
It should interact seamlessly with your iPad, iPhone or Android tablet, in fact at this price, I expected it would blow me away.
But it just doesn't.
Fantastic hardware, massive screen, clear image, thin bezel and a pleasure to watch, but after 10 minutes trying to watch the BBC iPlayer from the Samsung TV App Store, and several frustrated waits, and I gave up.
So OK, you can shout "Hi TV power off" several times and it will eventually get the picture, but the technology just isn't there yet.
Don't get me wrong, this is a wonderful TV, and I'm fairly sure (as of October 2012), probably the best around, but its not yet a full blown "Apple TV". I just can't help thinking, Apple would have done it better.
If you want a brilliant picture (which is after all the point), you can't go wrong with this, but you may want to add a little set top box (Boxee, Roku or Apple TV), to watch the iPlayer and NetFlix.
Oh, and the sound is OK, so you'll need to consider external speakers or a sound bar to get the best out of it.
Overall, Recommended, but with reservations.

I bought this TV in 2012 and it's superb.
If you go to an electronics retailer, they use an HD source such as cable TV or Sky, so you will see very little difference between brands. HOWEVER, if you don't have an HD source, and just rely on good old terrestrial signal, no other TV will come close. The difference is staggering, in particular if you want a larger screen (46' and bigger).
Of course if you have an HD source (through freeview now as well as the internet or satellite), you will be equally pleased.
The TV came with a free tablet that you can use as a keyboard to surf the net, or as a remote control. this will work is you pair the TV and the tablet together through your home wifi. It won't work otherwise. If you have movies, music on your tablet, they will play through the TV instantly at the press of an icon on the tablet.
The only let down is the voice control. That software needs work and the newer versions are probably better. The TV turns itself on and off whilst you're away. it's a software bug, nothing you can do. A screen menu also pops up from time to time, presenting you with some options. it can be annoying, but it will disappear as soon as you press any key on the remote. For the all the qualities this TV has to offer, this is only a small let down, and you can cancel voice and motion control from the main menu.
It's easy to use, even my 77 years old mother has bought this model and she can use it without difficulty.
The sound could be improved, but that's the compromise you have to make when you buy a flat screen TV. Mine is paired with a 3D Onkyo home cinema, and the two combined, what a blast!

Bought this tv from comet, from brand new out of the box picture quality is excellent. but we had a bright narrow pink line to the right hand side of the screen. Contacted comet and they wont swap the tv just refer you to samsung. You are then passed on to a tv repair shop who dont even come out, just say a new panel has to be ordered and they do loads o these tvs. Looking on forums i notice that this is a common fault, gently flexing the screen makes the line disappear. PROS.. Excellent picture on hd best out there with bright contrast. CONS.. Line on screen, sound is like portable tv, you'll need a soundbar at extra cost, web browser is painfully slow. This is a series 7 tv bu applies to the series 8 too, various screen sizes affected.
