5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read
Touching, funny, nostalgic. This book opens a door into a world long ago and is a gem packed with social history.

Nancy seems like a lovely person, she writes from the heart. Could read about her life for hours and could not put this story down.

This book was so clear and down to earth I felt I was a spectator when reading the details of life below stairs, just an ordinary woman but such an interesting life even though most of it was spent in the kitchen but he author added humour as well and stories about how the upper classes behaved which was really interesting - coulndnt put it down ha

I am fascinated about life as it was in the early part of the last century so always like to read books written by the people who experienced life then. This is a thoroughly interesting book and would certainly have no qualms in recommending it.

A fascinating story of a life known to so many women of my mother's and my grandmother's generations. An engaging read.

Great read. No microwaves, dishwashers etc. A very long day and little time off. Kids nowadays would find this life unbelieivable.
