Cities reveals some of Elaine Feinstein's finest poetic thought at its most acute, beautiful and sensitive. And as ever, Carcanet have succeeded in creating a spectacular cover that does justice to the work in the book.
What strikes me most about Feinstein's poems is the fearlessness with which she reveals the poetry she encounters in every day life and gives it a voice and substance that is at once sincere and real. There is colour, art and music in her writing as well as the personal tenderness she brings with her revelations and Cities is full of such treasures.
A feast of poetry that penetrates deeply and will make you think harder and feel more potently whatever situation you are in and wherever you are.
