Not very powerful, but it does the job. it's portable and easy to carry. Email and internet fine, but it is not a full computer.

You'll love this device for the price but beware the SD card slot. I tried two cards in it and it not only corrupted both cards it caused the netbook to crash. I had to contact Asus to find out how to reset it to its default condition to get it working again. It does but I haven't used the card slot since. That said the netbook is everything you would expect from a mid-range model of that size. The start up time is a little slow but once it gets going everything is responsive and easy to use. OK, so Windows 7 Starter doesn't let you do everything that you could do on a full Windows 7 OS but if you buy it with Starter you should know what you're getting. I would recommend the X101CH to anyone on a limited budget who is looking for a mini laptop that isn't going to be put through a lot of heavy duty use. And it you do run into trouble like I did with the card slot the Asus tech team is responsive and helpful ... just what you need to watch your back.

Please, please don't make the mistake of buying this machine it will drive you round the bend. Its a shame because its quite good in some ways but it is soooo slow at opening software up. It freezes and crashes all the time. Truly my old 16meg ram pc of the 90's was way faster!!

I want to use this netbook for skype but is very slowly and a RAM upgrade is not possible. The RAM is incorporated.

If you love taking pictures and expect windows to let you change your desktop background as it always let you in the past, like me, you are in for a nasty shock. WINDOWS DOES NOT LET YOU CHANGE YOUR WALLPAPER / DESKTOP BACKGROUND ON THIS COMPUTER. It won't even let you use one of Windows own downloadable wallpaper.

Asus lets you download a way round this for some of its other models such as my husband's Eee PC 1005HA, wish I had known about this before I purchased mine as there were alternatives at a similar price.

Very disappointed.

bought this to replace previous EeePC which died - won't charge any more. Very pleased with it. Call it purple baby because the previous one was my "baby" (smaller than my other), and this one is purple. No-brainer.

I only opened the box and tried the keyboard. Keyboard is probably fine for two finger typists but as a touch typist with around 40 years experience of many different machines I found it difficult to use. Therefore I returned it without setting up/connecting the machine so I cannot comment upon performance etc. Otherwise it was a good compact machine, lightweight and would be easy to carry about. Cover was attractive and didn't feel flimsy. I was really sorry that the keyboard let it down.

This is a fantastic netbook for university students who only need it as access to the internet. So lightweight and easy to use. Liked the fact it doesn't get hot. Thought the instructions weren't very clear though on how to fully charge the battery before first use.
