This is a remaster of the version released on CD by Torso in the 'eighties. It combines the original Fingerprince album with the additional tracks that were apparently to be included on a third side, This complete release was to be called Tourniquet Of Roses. The decision to cut the album down a single record resulted in the other songs being made available as the EP Babyfingers. The inclusion of those tracks here changes the original album sequence, with their placement in the middle of the playing order. As with all the recent releases of the early albums, on both Mute and MVD, the mastering is excellent. This is the most revealing, however. The Torso CD release was faithful to the Ralph vinyl in that the album sounded as if it had been recorded in a Louisiana swamp. The new version is so different, with both the vocals and individual instruments being much clearer, that it suggests that it has been remixed. Recommended for the inclusion of the bonus tracks, the opportunity to hear the music hidden on the original mix and for the use of the original sleeve design, though the reproduction of the texture is less successful. It would have been a bonus if the unused Tourniquet Of Roses sleeve design had been pictured inside.
