This scholarly book takes a revisionist approach to Gregory of Nazianzen's Oration 2, in that, instead of it being concerned primarily with Gregory's taking up of his post as priest in Nazianzus where his father was Bishop, or with priesthood in general, the oration is part of Gregory's response to the challenges to Christianity by the Emperor Julian (the Apostate), together with part of his attack on the heretic Eunomius.

Full of detail, and closely argued, it has been an eye-opener for me as I research this period in the church's life for my doctorate.

I bought the Kindle version for speed of access, but would probably have found it easier to manage with a hard copy of this book.
