Since El Ray The wedding Present have been absent from the album world...no more, this album is freshly released and as you would expect from the 'Weddoes' sounds great with lots of gutsy guitar, lyrically superb, and as ever surprising yet familiar. Can't recommend this highly enough

For the first couple of listens, I was not swept away to be honest. But then, suddenly, I just couldn't get enough. Gedge somehow consistently manages to come up with incredible, clever and beautifully constructed poetry and puts it to frantic and fabulous guitar-heavy tracks. The songs are often like listening in on a conversation, something I almost expect from the wedding present, and cover relationships from all sorts of angles. There are some of the best lyrics ever written within these songs, with my personal favourite being 'you appall me...ok, call me'. It's all in the delivery - and that is something that Gedge has once again got entirely right.

New songwriting partnership between David Gedge and multi-instrumental Graeme Ramsay pays dividends. Gift wrapped by production guru and fan of the band Andrew Scheps. The most dynamic, edgy and dramatic offering from The Wedding Present in many a year, probably ever.

If you think you've heard everything this band has to offer, you're in for a very pleasant surprise!

I recently purchased valentina as a present for my husband after seeing the band live on tour. We have been big fans for many years and this album is an excellent example of their work. Buy this album new fans and be mesmerized by the the guitar hero geniuses that are the wedding present.

Quite possibly their best album? It may well be. Stunning collection of songs. All 3 of their so called 'comeback' albums have been great but this one is a stunner! Mystery Date, Deer..., End Credits - awesome!!!

Great Album, not a bad track on it. "Deer Caught In The Headlights" is good and catchy, but "Meet Cute" is probabily my avourite.

Better than el rey but not as good as any other wedding present offering.

i'm no music reviewer...ok?
i can only say that i've loved the wedding present since 1988...really liked the way the last two albums went too (take fountain and el rey).
this one just isn't pushing my buttons (yet, at least). bit of 'mark e. smith' going on in parts, also.
fully expect this 'review' to be voted down...go on, i don't care.
sorry gedge and all of you...was so looking forward to your new release...re-listening now...again...just in case...
