In a period where, in my opinion, 'popular' music has almost reached rock bottom, plagued with records that sound all exactly the same like they were done by the same guy on the same Mac with the same Logic instruments, here we have a guy that's managed to put something out there that's actually of great quality. Jason writes amazing lyrics and his melodies are very catchy. Not only that, the album contains 'live instruments' (that's a rarity nowadays), it sounds great (mixed by the brilliant Tony Masserati) and is a pleasure to the ears since it's not squashed to death like most pop/rock stuff nowadays. The Deluxe edition contains a second disc with a demo and 4 live songs taken from a concert he gave in San Diego. All amazing tracks that capture how genuine and talented this guy's music is. Definitely my favourite album of the week, and probably next week's too.

Terrific album, from start to finish - Mr Mraz just gets better & better! Bought on strength of brilliant single 'I won't give up', but rest of songs really good.

Fans of the earlier material will be disappointed with this album, which sees Mraz serve up a set of bland pop songs that are highly polished, easily digestible yet also instantly throwaway.

The surprise commercial success of "I'm Yours" gave Mraz a taste of the bigtime and boy does it show - "Love is a Four Letter Word" is chart-friendly fodder for the exact same market, finely crafted but aimed squarely at repeat business.

Mraz is undoubtedly a massively talented artist, so to play it this safe really feels like a missed opportunity.

Brilliant! Love it! If you liked his last album you'll love this one. Some lovely laid back tracks as well as some more up beat ones. What more can I say!!

I suppose I had some pretty big expectations for Jason Mraz's latest album, considering his previous offerings (Waiting for my Rocket to Come (5*), Live at Java Joes (5*), Tonight, Not Again (5*), Mr A to Z (4*), We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things (5*)), but I'm left feeling a little let down. Don't get me wrong - I think he's got it all - tunesmith, lyricist, singer and guitarist, and I've been hooked since the first album, but I found Love is a Four Letter Word to be pretty flat and samey. If that's what you like then, for you, this is an album of belters, but the thing I've always liked about Jason Mraz is his quirkiness... the clever wordplay, the syncopation, funky beats mixed with soaring melodies - but a lot of that seems to have been dropped from his repertoire on this album.

Waiting For My Rocket to Come is still my favourite of his albums, but sadly, this one is at the bottom of the list for me. Finger's crossed the next one will move somewhere back to his previous work where - in my opinion - the songs had a lot more character. I appreciate artists have to develop throughout their careers but, where many artists get more experimental (sometimes to the point of self-indulgence) as they grow and gain commercial success, Mr A to Z seems to be chilling out a little too much for my taste.

If you're a fan, you'll add it to your collection, but I can't see myself returning to this one as often as I do the others. At least iTunes will shuffle some of the songs to keep them from falling into obscurity.

This album is great to listen to when you just want to unwind. It's a good backdrop for barbecues, nice for driving, just brilliantly easy listening. This ease of listening does throw up one issue another reviewer mentioned about some tracks being forgettable. Unfortunately I agree with this, but... not all good music is memorable. A catchy tune isn't always appropriate for how your feeling on a given day, and for me this album speaks more emotionally than it does in its rememberbility (real word?) factor. Similar in style to Ed Sheeran, but I prefer Miraz as the theme is more consistent throughout the album, and there is no awful rapping.

I bought this CD because i love Jason Mraz, he's awesome. When I heard 'I won't give upon us' i was astounded at how good it was and couldn't stop singing it, it has such lovely connotations to it. I needed to hear the rest of the album. Definitely reccomend to everyone of his fans. If you haven't already purchased. Do so now!

Just got this CD for my birthday. I already owned his previous 'We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things' I love this new album: it's the sort of music you'd put on if you had visitors as you can't imagine anyone not liking it. Jason Mraz has a very easy-to-listen-to voice and charm and the songs are a variety of catchy and beautiful tunes. Some music you'd choose to listen to depending what mood you were in but I think you'd be happy to play this anytime. Enjoy!
I've added to this review as I probably reviewed it too soon after only a couple of listens: I now love it even more and I guarantee you will be singing & tapping your foot along to songs such as The Freedom Song, Living In The Moment and Everything is Sound. Then there are the gorgeous songs The Woman I love, I won't Give Up, 93 Million Miles and In Your Hands. Lovely album :-)
