I recently went along to a UKIP public-meeting featuring Nigel Farage as guest speaker. I arrived not knowing fully what to expect; I left truly inspired by the man's enthusiasm, honesty, and patriotism, and also a signed copy of this book, which I devoured with relish in a couple of days.
A politician who has also lived and worked in the 'real world' outside of politics, gives an honest account of his early life, what got him into his current role fighting the undemocratic EU, and where he wants to take UKIP and the UK in the future. Inspiring - a rare ability amongst today's clone-like career politicians.
Nigel Farage is undoubtedly a like or loathe type of character. The brief time he gets on television - usually on some BBC politics show where the broadcaster delights in promoting its pro-federalist agenda - fails to afford him much more than sound bites.
I attended a speech he gave in Newcastle recently where he spoke eloquently and humorously for an hour and a half with no notes. That speech, and this book, provides a much greater insight not only to the man but also his cause; anyone who believes in democracy and the right of the people to decide for themselves will be horrified by the accounts of fraud, bullying and deceit perpetuated by the unelected, unaccountable EU.
I love this man!! Already being well aware of the wasteful and corrupt nature of the EU I was not overly shocked by the content of this book, but did find it hugely entertaining and inspiring. Entertaining because Nigel's unique stamp of honesty and wit are weaved throughout, and inspired because of the lengths he (and UKIP in general) have gone to in order to expose the EU as the circus it is.
Nigel is an extraordinarily bold, magnetic character who is not afraid to admit his vices - this promotes a sense of trust and confidence in him - which is SUCH A RARITY within politics at this time. This book also challenged me to consider my own weaknesses in judging others or expecting them to fit into my preconceived ideas about how one should behave or be. Thank you Nigel for allowing me to reassess my own attitude once again and also for everything you are doing to capture an audience that is crying out for freedom and true democracy within our country.
This is a great read, a thrilling rollercoaster ride as we fly high with the most totemic figure in British politics today. Nigel lives at 100 MPH and his passion and drive shines through. He comes across in this book as honest, devil-may-care and a man of great belief. Many will criticise him but few could say they have achieved what he has and I predict come May 2015 Mr Farage will be beginning the next thrilling chapter in this extraordinary life. Highly recommended read!
Interesting insight into an interesting man - love him or hate him I think more people should read this - you will learn so much about the way Europe is run it will make your hair curl and could make a difference to the way you vote on staying in the EU
