3.0 out of 5 stars Not great, but worth watching!
I've been waiting ages for this film to be released. I'm a big fan of Red Dwarf & I couldn't wait to see Danny-John Jules in this film. Without giving too much away, Danny plays the role really well as one of lads who's up for anything. His chemistry with Gordon Alexander works well even though they have a couple of scenes together. It would have been interesting to see...

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Film!!!!, 24 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Grind [DVD] (DVD)
I honestly don't know what the other reviewers of the film are talking about?? I have been looking forward to the release of the Grind for a while now and it certainly didn't disappoint!!
Unlike the previous reviewer I thought the 'dark and shadowy' film techniques used in places were a credit to both the film and the director and defiantly fitted in with the concept of the movie. The storyline was well thought-out, set in Hackney East London it covers a multitude of issues relating to the dark underworld of the east end loan shark (Foreman). The film is defiantly worth adding to the DVD collection, give it a go you won't regret it!.

1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of an hour and a half, 2 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Grind [DVD] (DVD)
The only Grind is the grind of having to sit down and watch this dross.

I love British film and there have been some great gritty Brit films of late but The Grind is not one of them, its basically a 25 minute film padded out with what seems like endless shots of gormless youths 'dancing' in a grubby club.

The acting while not uniformely bad leaves a lot to be desired and it looks like it was shot on a mobile phone, and an old one at that!

When I popped 'The Grind' into my player I thought I might be in for another 'Wild Bill', alas..It was not to be.

Save your money, or if you must have it, wait a month or so when you should pick it up for a few pence and the 1.26 postage.

1.0 out of 5 stars THE GRIND, 24 April 2012
This review is from: The Grind [DVD] (DVD)
THIS FILM'S COMPLETE CRAP, THE PLOT'S TERRIBLE, THE OUTCOME'S OBVIOUS, ALOT OF IT'S SHOT IN THE NIGHTCLUB AS YOU'D IMAGINE, BUT YOU CAN'T TELL WHAT'S HAPPENNING HALF THE TIME BECAUSE THE FILMING'S SO DARK AND DINGHY AND SHADOWY, THIS MUST OBVIOUSLY HAVE BEEN HOW THE MAKERS WANTED IT FILMED BUT TO ME IT'S TOTALLY POINTLESS.

I THOUGHT JAMIE FOREMAN WAS HILARIOUS IN LAYER CAKE AS A COMICALLY INEPT WANNABE GANGSTER WHO'S WAY OUT OF HIS DEPTH, SO I BOUGHT THE FILM ON THE BASIS THAT HE MIGHT BE ASKED FOR ANOTHER PERFORMANCE LIKE THAT, UNFORTUNATELY HE WASN'T AND I WAS PLEASED WHEN THE FILM ENDED.
