A really good film that is well produced, directed and written as well as some fine acting by a cast that I've never heard of . A fictitious story, I believe, that is based on true events in the ongoing conflict in the Mid-East between the Israeli's and Palestinians.

Well-meaning (& a bit corny) epic Hollywood-style take on middle-eastern conflict. It's part James bond, part Romeo & Juliet, part biblical, part real-life. Wasn't sure at first but watched it twice and the film drew me in second time round, & left me feeling reflectful & entertained.

I was rather wary of buying this film, after previously purchasing the similarly titled,GOD AWFUL,FireOver Afghanistan.
Unfortunately my prediction that 2012 is going to be the YEAR OF THE APPALLING WAR FILM is rapidly being affirmed with each and every new release.Indeed to call this a war film is something of a misnomer,it is in fact a very, long,HIGHLY IMPLAUSIBLE LOVE STORY.If you look at the cover and read the Bumpf, you think your going to get an action packed war film with good effects,YOU'D BE DEAD WRONG !!! Unusually for this LOW BUDGET type of release everything on said cover is actually in the film, but the action is brief and not terribly convincing, with at best, average special effects. An example, the lead character(WOODEN) is shot in the arm and backside, goes to hospital, hobbles around with a crutch for a couple of minutes and then starts running around like an olympic sprinter(the torch went right past our front door the other day, hence the reference),
before the actor remembers he's supposed to have been shot and decides to limp a bit.(There is a noticeable time-lag,whilst the thought process takes effect). There are plenty of boring godsquaddie tales and some long winded cr*p about an Arab's POXY Olive trees. The blurb on the cover says this film is based on true events, and two INFAMOUS events from this conflict are shown in the film, but it's hard to tell whether it's old newsreel footage(which i suspect) or re-enacted footage shot on old grainy film stock. All the scenes inside vehicles are pretty awful, with cutaway cardboard interiors and very grainy green screen exteriors,(through the window landscape shots). This is not good enough, compare them to the one's in Generation Kill,
Black Hawk Down and such-like.Talk about back to the Dark Ages in filmmaking.Back to the implausible romance,at the spot where Jesus alledgedly walked on water,i was expecting the female character to start walking on water, but thankfully she doesn't.Need i continue? All the actors are speaking english(No subtitles),even the arabic ones. The Jewish mother sounds more American than George Bush, and is about as convincing. The lead actress wears an incredibly Garish pink and lime green dress throughout most of the film. When she's doing her nursing/surgery bit,she passes out at the sight of blood(Completely forgetting that she's just treated loads of other bleeding patients). The sheets in the hospital are remarkably clean, despite having no anaesthetics/medicines in the building.(A fact the director also forgets when it comes to the AMAZINGLY STUPID finale).INCREDIBLE as it may seem,we are now treated to this surgeon woman, giving herself a concoction of the aforementioned MISSING drugs, putting her into a coma/ZOMBIE like state, being interned, dragged out of her crypt and brought back to life in some Shaun of the Dead fashion.I KID YOU NOT !!! Yes in that sense, this film is stunning,STUNNNINGLY AWFUL !!!!

Its a change to actually watch a film about a foreign country that has not been Americanised. Not over the top with action but still a good story.

True reperesentation of the situation in Israel...very sad. I am just hoping that one day all the killing will stop. The more hate there is from both sides, the more killing there will be. Love and forgiveness is the answer. What an insirational story!
