Reduces Algae. Reduces Phosphate
on 4 September 2013
I have been using this for about 2 months now.
My 250ltr marine tank has gone from 'we really need to do something about this algae' to cleaning the glass once a fortnight and the algae on the rocks being 95% gone.
It shows up in the skimmer which when opened smells like a broken sewer pipe. Good to feel that all that is in the skimmer and not in the tank.
Now to the phosphate.
Prior to using this I was measuring somewhere just under 0.16ppm. Now with the algae mostly gone I'm measuring just about 0.08ppm This using a readsea algae control test kit.
Nitrate has been at about zero before and during use of algae prevent.
If you have one of those API test kits that measures phosphate at 1ppm and 0ppm it won't tell you anything. The difference between too much algae, and improving algae is 0.16ppm and 0.08ppm.
The foxface is fine, the clowns are fine, Soft corals show no reaction to prevent algae at all. I have no invertebrates.
I have been so happy with algae prevent, I have ordered more and am now using it in my 2 fresh water tanks also.
It can be got a couple of quid cheaper on other sites but with added postage. One site I bought 3 with the postage cost of 1 saving around £4 on the 3. Shop around.
