Avoid, Disney have ripped off the UK,
By
This review is from: Marvel Avengers Assemble (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray)[Region Free] (Blu-ray)
Scenes edited, extras missing all because they rushed the UK release. Other European countries get this unedited. Please please buy the US version which will work on your UK PS3 or Bluray player. Unedited & all the extras.

Avengers,
This review is from: Marvel's Avengers Assemble [Blu-ray][Region Free] (Blu-ray)
I'm really glad I didn't pre-order this as when I initially looked there didn't seem to be many bonus features. There does seem to have been a massive error of judgement by Disney over this. A key scene has been edited and the US version of the blue-ray has the additional features that we all expect now. I'd advise anyone wanting to buy this to wait until nearer Christmas - I bet a revised version will be issued. I'm not sure if this has been a cynical marketing ploy to make more money in the expectation that fans will buy both or a genuine slip-up. Either way Disney has scored a major own goal here. I think there have been a large number of complaints to Disney and this is being taken up by Watchdog on the BBC. This is not a criticism of the film which I loved but a review of the blueray release, and I'm really disappointed as I was really looking forward to watching this.

Disney disney treat the Uk equally to US.,

When we the public were being primed for the introduction of Blu-Ray, one of the primary benefits of the greater capacity in relation to DVD was that there would be access to far more features and extras such as directors commentarys; yes they were going to be considerably more expensive than DVD but you got so much more for your money, it wasn't just better sound and audio. However, here we see despite the significantly higher premium over DVD, this Blu-Ray offers zero extras, not because they're not available or won't fit on the disc, but because Disney know many individuals will have been waiting for this disc and will pre-order, unaware of the omissions, and of course Disney will then release a 'Special Edition' including everything they should include now. The sad fact is that many enthusiasts will end up buying both Blu-Rays, and it's this disgraceful attitude towards the UK and all markets except the US which means I never buy new Blu-Rays anymore, preferring to buy them used on Amazon. And the studios wonder why there's such a massive market for pirated films? It's because you're a bunch of greedy, self-serving entities that's why.

Unworthy, unimportant UK customers,

This review is from: Marvel's Avengers Assemble [DVD] (DVD)
As most of the 1 star reviews, this isn't regarding the film itself but the total lack of care shown by Disney/Marvel in getting this product into the stores; Felt compelled to email Disney UK this evening, seeing as I feel so hard done by & ultimately let down by from a film I couldn't wait to purchase from when I first saw it in the cinemas- This is what I emailed Disney:I'm sure I am one of many who feel the need to complain greatly at the scam that is the UK version of the Avengers released today on DVD. This is probably my favourite film of 2012, and with box office records being broken when it was released in cinemas I feel more than slightly aggrieved of the total lack of care and time taken to give the release the DVD treatment it deserves; All we get is a 5 minute feature?!??! Not good enough at all. Surely there was enough demand and material available for a film of this magnitude to warrant a 2 disc special edition on launch?? I am also VERY disappointed that you cut the directors commentary from the disc also, considering it made the US cut of the disc; Are UK customers devoid of any loyalty to your company or unworthy/inferior to our neighbours across the Atlantic?? We spend our hard earned money on your products only to see the most disgusting treatment, this has 'rushed job' all over it, and to be frank I think the team in charge of the DVD release should hang their heads in shame. One more point; I will want a refund from yourselves if you decide to bring out a special edition down the line; Naturally I want a DVD that serves as value for money. One thing I cannot stand is when companies bring out standard edition DVD's to start with, wait for the fans to purchase the product on the first day (as they are naturally anticipating being able to watch the movie in their own home) and then fleece them out of money by bringing out a 2 disc edition within months; thus scamming the loyal customers out of the money they forked out on the product the first time around. Please can you address the issues raised above; I've never felt compelled to write a letter of complaint regarding something as trivial as a DVD before but believe in this day and age, and from a company that supposedly prides itself in quality products it is worth seeing if I get any reply from yourselves. Eagerly anticipating your response.

Missing features, and edited!,
This review is from: Marvel's Avengers Assemble [Blu-ray][Region Free] (Blu-ray)
Not only have Disney treated their UK buyers appallingly by leaving off special features (they've already dropped the DVDs from their animated classics unlike the US versions) it now seems as if we get the edited version that (some) other European countries are getting. How can Disney even release a version here that wasn't the one classified by the BBFC?This is completely unacceptable and shows nothing more than contempt for UK customers, especially considering the movie in question. I can understand retailer exclusives with bonus discs and steelbook packaging, but no matter where you buy it you'll not be getting the complete movie.

Was fully intending to get this until I noticed that all the special features have been cut out. Way to go Marvel/Disney. Why release something like this - a disk that was going to sell insane numbers - and waste the opportunity by gutting it? All you're doing is pissing people off. No way I'll be buying this, might try and import the US release.

You can't put such a crucial special feature (director's commentary) in some regions and not others. Stop looking at the world as a bunch of territories. Or if you do, treat 'the internet' as a territory in its own right - because that's where I'll be listening to Joss talk about the film, instead of buying this disc.

I am boiling with FURY. I ordered the Blu-ray only to later discover that tonnes of extras have been omitted. This is in STARK contrast to the US release. Disney really kept LOKI about this. No doubt there will be another release further down the line with a "Special Edition" BANNER all over it.So Disney, you can ROMANOFF.

Rough treatment for the UK by Disney,
By FuriousPig "Furi" (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Marvel's Avengers Assemble [DVD] (DVD)
This will be the first Marvel Film I haven't bought. Not because the film is bad, quite the contrary, the film is great. The problem is the UK version has, once again, been stifled of extras. Shoddy treatment by Disney & this package should be boycotted. The edited scene is NOT a deal breaker, contrary to other reviews, but I do hope Disney get fined by the BBFC. Import the US version & show Disney we will not be played for fools!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Marvel's Avengers Assemble [Blu-ray][Region Free] (Blu-ray)
I can't believe they removed the director's commentary on the BR disc.... Is already one of the best selling movies ever, and I'm pretty sure it will beat records on home video too... But this is outrageous! This is marketing screwing up the fans. We'll give you our money, when you deserve it.Canceling my preorder made in July. This sucks |
