A great historical romance to get lost in.

"Emerald" follows the fortunes of the Chase family, who we first met in Lauren Royal's previous novel "Amethyst". This time the focus of the book is the eldest son, Jason, as he goes in search of justice for the serious assualt of two of his tennents, and the accidental death of an unknown stranger - killed by his own sword.
En route he meets Caithren Leslie, who is travelling from Scotland in search of her brother. Jason mistakes her for Scottish bounty hunter Emerald MacCallum, and the book follows their journey to London.
Lauren Royal perfectly captures the mood of the era - the book is set in 1667. She has obviously thoroughly researched this period, especially the language and places she uses. Her descriptions are so clear, you can see Cait and Jason in your mind's eye as you read it.
If you want to curl up in front of the fire and escape for a few hours, then this is the book for you. I was so engrossed I couldn't put the book down.
