Denis Matsuev is excellent in all 3 works. I would go so far as to say that he gives the best performance on CD that I have heard of any pianist in these concertos, and I have heard Kissin, Argerich and many others.

Denis Matsuev is perfectly matched with the music of Shostakovich. At once romantic, compelling, exciting, thrilling (the list goes on). I particularly love the second movement of the Second Piano Concerto. It is deeply moving and beautifully executed. The Mariinsky orchestra are swift becoming my favourite, their playing is controlled, technically astounding and quite beautiful. A real Russian experience!

Denis Matsuev is extraordinary. His playing on this recording is quite exquisite and this recording really highlights his technical prowess as well as his musicality. The Mariinsky never fail to impress. This is a truly exciting recording and the works compliment each other perfectly.

After more than 40 years of classical music still coming to grips with Shostakovich, however his piano concertos are his best music so far!!!

It sound like someone recorded this on the cheapest recording equipment available, the music is as anticipated, knowing much of the work of Shostakovich. Just a poor recording
