4.0 out of 5 stars A well-written and entertaining novel...
The action in this story never falters, and the twists and turns in the plot will keep the reader guessing and often surprised. The action in this story never falters, and the twists and turns in the plot will keep the reader guessing and often surprised. Those who know Nick Cook as a consultant/writer for Jane's Defense Weekly and for his more recent non-fiction book, The Hunt for Zero Point, may not be aware of his novels published in the early 1990s. Cook brings to them expertise in military matters and his own experience as a journalist, and in fact, one can easily see Tom Girling as a continuing character in future novels. I highly recommend Aggressor and Cook's first novel, Angel, Archangel--they are well-written and highly entertaining reading.

I really liked this book, it was a good page turning thriller. However, although the opening chapter covered an apparent aircraft attack run, I would be hard pressed to describe it as ' military tecno' as whilst reading the subsequent few chapters I thought it was about a magazine reporter. The military action is quite limited but added to the final twist which was very unexpected! I will read more by this author.

A mysterious Islamic organization called the Angels of Judgment galvanizes the Middle East with a series of raids in which its members take high-level Russian and American diplomats as hostages. The action in this story never falters -- Cook picked me up and hurtled me through myriad twists and turns that kept me guessing right to the final page.

Couldn't get into this one. Not quite sure what is wrong but it just doesn't 'grip' and all seems a bit boring (only word that fits). I gave up after about a third of it. Maybe it gets better but if I'm not interested by that stage I can't be bothered hanging in just in case it gets better. Sorry Mr Cook.
