The way that Carey writes this is intense. While its lack of punctuation isn't for everyone, I was immediately enveloped in the story. All the way through, you could feel Ned Kelly's emotions as strongly as if they were your own, and the story is a gripping tale of how a man fights the corruption of the law to protect his family and what he stands for. Loved it. Loved every second of it.

It's written like Finnegan's Wake, but not so difficult to follow. It's beautiful and compelling. I wouldn't want to be someone who hadn't read it, although I suppose being an Australian might bias me to that view.

One of the best books I have ever read. Stick with it - the deliberate lack of punctuation soon becomes something you won't even notice. An awesome book by a fantastic writer.

It started very well until about 250 pages then became much the same. Shame really. as I choice this for a book club, although we had a good debate.
