Having all of the other complete/expanded sound tracks I had to get this, but . . .
Musically it's actually not that good. I wasn't 100% sure before I bought it, but now I am!
The CD production, cover notes, extras, etc are great: it's a quality item (and very interesting to hear what was nearly the opening theme tune). However Leonard Rosenman's music just doesn't do it for me. I think the fact that the main theme is virtually identical to the one he composed and used for the animated movie version of the Lord of The Rings is what really gets to me - the music's not that good and yet he had the cheek to get away with it twice!
High-light: the punk tune by Kirk Thatcher.
Low-light: that jazz is apparently the best way to represent mid 80's LA (Angels and ministers of grace defend us!).
It's a lot of money to spend on a below average sound track that probably only appeals because it's Star Trek. Only for the completists out there.
