5.0 out of 5 stars For anyone in a long relationship
Brillant, for long relationships. It helps in relationship problems as well as understanding the opposite sex. This book is great because it deals with both male and female sides. NOWAY, is this book just for females. So, listen up this book can improve your relationship! Hope you buy this book because you'll be mad not to!

1.0 out of 5 stars Over generalised stereotypical analysis
Yes the author caveats by saying he's made generalisations about gender characteristics but when the whole model of the book is about gender differences, it defeats the object. Thoroughly infuriating read.

The first 100 pages are basically saying that men are rational creatures who go solve problems by thinking, while women are emotional and need to talk. It's true that women sometimes have low self esteem and need reassurance from others by talking. I can sympathise with men there (I'm a woman). However, beyond that simplification, the book is a bit of a waste of time. The myriad far-fetched examples of fairy tale Martians and Venusians are patronising and annoying. I confess I couldn't read further.

Instead of reading this book, it might be helpful for women to realise some facts of life: on the whole, men don't experience relationships as a most important element in their happiness like women do. Their main adventure is their career, sport or other ambition. As the book says, they get more satisfaction from 'accomplishments'. Many women sadly see 'getting a man' as their accomplishment.

In my experience, men see relationships as a means to have sex. If women simply accepted that, they might realise it's a waste of time trying to talk to men about "feelings". Then women could find more important and rewarding things to do with their lives, hooray! Yet women would rather read fairy tales like Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus... because they can't stomach the simple truths and need a more palatable explanation for why men don't express feelings. The reason: men just don't have the same feelings. Men will often mistake lust and infatuation with love. Okay I'm generalising here, but really, stop chasing your tails, girls! No need to read the relationship book, just take care of yourself. A man will never 'meet your needs'. This book will only perpetuate your false expectations.

Funnily enough, when men feel rage, anger, or despair, they have not trouble showing it.
