Apparently there are four tracks on here that were originally intended for Johnny Jewel's cruelly aborted 'Drive' soundtrack. 2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting concept but flawed and largely uninteresting.
I was interested to hear a Drive like soundscape(s) album to know what might have been if I understand correctly.
I can only say, it's for the best.

There is a variety in the synthesizer like soundscapes which is good, but most tracks are just not that interesting to listen to.

Apparently there are four tracks on here that were originally intended for Johnny Jewel's cruelly aborted 'Drive' soundtrack. However Hollywood's loss is our gain with an inspired album of imaginary scores which have been afforded the full artistic license they deserve, denied by the fatcat producers.

From pulsing, metronomic Italo-themed pieces to beautiful, melodic synth laments, this 2 hour collection astonishingly doesn't dip in quality over its course. All of the tracks instantly create a mini movie-scene in your mind with heady imagery and (perhaps obviously) provide a killer driving soundtrack.

The album is not slavish in its approach to homage with an eye as much on sleek futurism as on creating Fabio Frizzi/Claudio Simonetti facsimiles. The overall vibe is of an urban twilight with menace and intrigue just round the bend.
Along with the excellent 'Drokk' this is streets ahead of your average 'real' soundtrack. Highly recommended for fans of emotive 80's synth scores and slick Michael Mann-esque road warrior pretensions.

You can imagine that it might work to create a certain atmosphere, but as a listening experience it is a lot interesting than
the Drive soundtrack.

I recommend to listen to the tracks or samples of them before you buy this cd. For me it was quite disappointing.
