5.0 out of 5 stars QUIRKY Astonishing amount of information, amusing and informative.
David Arscot's enjoyable quirky, irreverent style comes across in this entertaining fact filled volume charting the 60 year reign of Queen Elizabeth in the Peculiar History style. The format is great - a pocket size hardback with well-written text the kind of book that is designed for dipping into. This volume doesn't just cover the life of the Queen but puts the House of...

David Arscot's enjoyable quirky, irreverent style comes across in this entertaining fact filled volume charting the 60 year reign of Queen Elizabeth in the Peculiar History style. The format is great - a pocket size hardback with well-written text the kind of book that is designed for dipping into. This volume doesn't just cover the life of the Queen but puts the House of Windsor in context by giving a backround to the name change from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha...at the same time that a German Bomber dropping bombs on London was named Gotha G.IV. in 1917. Hundreds of facts include the 78 year old Queen Victoria celebrated her Diamond Jubilee on the steps of St Paul's as she couldn't make it up the steps! Very enjoyable, highly recomended for a quick read.

Please be sure a copy of this book is in the hands of every TV presenter (particularly American) covering the Jubilee. It will keep them from making stupid mistakes in their commentary. Concise, easy to read: they ought to be able to handle it.
