Give them to some of the greatest modern Baroque female voices and you have a wondrous selection.
The sound quality on these 2 discs is excellent, clear sharp but never dry.
It also sounds like all the orchestras on these recordings(various) are using original instruments?
The singers (ranging from soprano down to true contralto) feel completely at home in the baroque repertoire, and allow beautifully controlled emotion to impart just what the composer intended.
If you can get this at a bargain price it's something not to be missed;even at full price it's still a bargain.

This is a very well assembled collection of Baroque music. Vivaldi predominates with extracts from a number of complete recordings but so well chosen in terms of aria and voice as to avoid (for me) the potential monotony of his sometimes rather formulaic operatic music. The range of surrounding arias is extremely satisfying, with Nathalie Stutzmann outstanding.

We play it a lot in the car.
