5.0 out of 5 stars Choral music at its best., 25 Feb. 2012

This review is from: In the Heart of Things: Choral Music of Francis Pott (Audio CD)
Once again, Matthew Berry and Commotio bring us the choral music of a modern composer, Francis Pott. I confess to being ignorant of this composer's work but bought the cd on the strength of the other Commotio offerings, James Whitbourn's Luminosity being a particular favourite. In The Heart Of Things continues the high standard they have set, wonderful atmospheric singing from the choir and a special note on Grace Davidson's solo parts in Mass:Benedictus and Babulalow.
Anyone who has a love of choral music will surely love this too.

Fantastic quality choral music from a composer of great integrity. Francis Pott finds new ways of expression in this very traditional medium and the compositions are both approachable and interesting - beautifully crafted polyphony. The performance and recording are both of high quality. Highly recommended.
