compact neat looking machine. makes nice coffee. it has one annoying fault.the filter holder frequently blocks and you have to lift out the coffee holder to scrape the bottom of the filter holder to allow the coffee to drain through. if you don't do this the coffee will also come out through the lid.
morphy Richards have replaced the filter and filter holder but it makes no difference - I think it's a design fault - their final word was if I was not happy with the product to return it to the supplier!

After reading all the negative reviews,I did still give this machine a go and so far so far so good..I do always use paper filters in my coffee machines, for the sake of about £1 I cannot see the advantage of the removable filter, it is such a mess disposing of all the used coffee dregs. So the factor of the pipe becoming blocked has occurred for me, yes it does take "longer to brew your coffee but it is worth it, it lmakes a lovely cup of coffee. I always leave my coffee on the hot plate for about 5 minutes after the brewing process has finished to reach that nice hot temperature. Coffee if left on the hot plate for a second cup doesn't get that stewed strong taste quite so bad as other machines I have used in the past..
Just one point to remember if you do use paper filters, make sure you fold the filter down so that you get it well tucked in the cone, otherwise the water as it flows from the little spout will fall onto the edge of the paper filter on you end up with the filter buckled over and the coffee flowing out over the top. I have tried both ways with my paper filters, putting them direct into the main cone or leaving the mesh cone in and putting the paper filter in it. Just cannot decide which way works the best, I suppose you do have a safety back up with the mesh cone still in place, but the paper filter can be better pushed down in the main cone. Sorry the jury is still out on this one.
Overall I am well pleased with this machine, I think it may be quite expensive to run though as it gets the water to boiling point in seconds sooner than minutes.
I have bought this for us to take away on our motor home where storage space is limited, and this does fit perfectly in the space where my old 2 mug filter machine lived, (shame they no longer seem to make those) so I haven't over used this yet apart from the home trials we carried out, if you like the look go for it, but it is a costly bit of kit to buy.

Like other reviewers I found that this blocked after a few uses, tried lots of differnt coffees to see if it was me. Morphy Richards replaced the whole thing but sure enough after a few uses blocked again. Shame as it looks good and makes a great cup of coffee. Okay is it really better than the £20 filer coffee machine, well maybe just a bit. Anyway the other thing I found annoying was cleaning the filters out. So have now dispensed with the inner filter and use a filter paper instead. Now easy clean and NO MORE blockages. As long as you make sure the filter paper is pressed down so the spout hole isn't blocked seems fine. Great coffee, great looks, easy clean.

Even if you are half as much a coffee fanatic as I am, this is a MUST HAVE item. Ok, it's expensive (compared it to other Filter Coffee Makers), it is a lot slower in its delivery (compared to my old Morphy Richards Filter Coffee Maker) but the end result is incomparable! There is just so much more `body', fantastic flavour, perfect temperature, in short, the ultimate delight. On top of all that, it is, in my view, a very good looking piece of kit, very slim and sleek, totally devoid of bulkiness, it fits in perfectly. It also boasts a two year guarantee which is reassuring. Well done Morphy Richards, I am delighted with my purchase. I thoroughly recommend this product to coffee lovers, I cannot praise it enough. ENJOY!!

Nice little filter coffee maker. Works fine and is just the right size (about large kettle size). I was a little dubious about buying this given some reviews complained about blocked filters etc. But as the price dropped £10 I though I would take a chance. Being prepared I also made sure I had some coffee filter papers to hand when I used it. I am using size No 2 which seem fine for up to 4 cups (possibly 6 but not tried that yet).

No problems so far with any blockage or spillage. I tried it with the metal mesh filter in place and without. Both worked equally well, but to save on cleaning I probably will run with just the paper and outside filter case (not the inner metal mesh one). there is probably room to fit a larger filter paper if you were to want 6 cups regularly and wanted to make sure the wet coffee grounds did not go over the top. Just be sure not to block the water outlet with the filter.

My observations on how it works: It boils the water first (about 3 mins) then an elctro/mechanical pump pumps a measure of water up the handle into the lid (which has a watering can style rosette of holes in to spread the water over the coffee grounds). This initial pumping uses about 1 cupful of water only (to avoid overfilling the filter). Then every 20-30 seconds the pump operates again for about 6-8 times to finish the brewing cycle, pumping more water. Overall it take about 10 minutes to complete the cycle. It then goes into standby with a 1 Hour keep hot function. This keep hot function defaults to the 85 Degree setting, but pressing the 95 Degree button once whilst in this mode switches it to the hotter setting (which is good if you add Milk from the fridge to your cuppa! It heats up every now and again (obviously) during this phase.

Noise is same for the boiling stage as a standard kettle, then very quite when pumping, I can hardly hear it. Time will tell how long it lasts (it is an obsolete model so spares will probably be hard to get now). But it comes with a 1 year warranty - extendable to 2 years once registered free with Morphy Richards.

So my conclusion, it makes a nice strong cuppa. Works fine so far with filter papers (easier to keep it clean and avoid any potential blockages). Is compact, taking up about the same space as a standard cordless/base Kettle (a bit taller) and is novel in the way it brews up - recirculating the water/coffee mix as it is brewed. Happy with it so far.

This machine is perfect if you prefer your coffee brewed slightly cooler - it has an 85 degree and a 95 degree setting, in addition to a strength selector dial. Really fantastic flavour.

Some advice - use it with paper filters and you can avoid the 'clogging up' issues that the other reviewers have complained about.

I bought mine from Currys even after I'd read the problem reviews because I thought this was a really neat design. Unfortunately the filter had a hole in the bottom (a large one not the holes it's supposed to have :) ) and the filter holder clogged and I ended up with coffee all over the worktop on the first try.

I took it back and was going to get a replacement but it was out of stock so I decided to cut my losses and just got a refund.

I still don't know whether an intact filter and course ground coffee would have worked, but I don't think I could recommend this. It's a shame as I think it's a clever idea.

I am delighted with this product makes great coffee. The only thing I find it hard to lock closed. I do get there after awhile but don't know what t really did to manage it but being 77yrs that's maybe why. It now matches the tea maker which I do use as a kettle. They are a delight to look at on my counter. Thank You J. A

It worked fine for 8 days then stopped working, however even in the 8 days it blocked three times. Thanks Amazon for refund. Don't buy it it's a waste of money. I now have a deLongi filter machine that cost £19.99, it's much better!

This is the 3rd one I have had, 1st one the filter was broken and morphy Richards told me to take it back to the store I purchased it from 2nd one the filter got clogged so I returned it for a refund. I then purchased the 3rd from amazon, it worked ok until about two weeks and then the filter kept clogging up not allowing the coffee through to jug. I love size and design and the coffee being nice and hot but not the mess it makes. Waiting for a refund and will buy another make. I had a morphy Richards machine with a frother for about five years which was excellent but recently broke down
