Previous comments re unusability, at least on iPad, seem to be unfounded. Standard search allows easy location of desired words, including definitions and links to alternative spellings. Would have scored a 5 but I would have liked to be able to see more words on a single page than the Kindle app allows - would be better when one is 'scanning' the word list for something useful (tut tut!). Adding Bookmarks allows one to easily access the index by first letter and also the useful list of 2-letter words.

I stumbled across a way of getting the search facility to accept two letter words - just add a full stop! I am an avid scrabble player and this book is brilliant because it tells you so quickly what the words means as well as if it is allowable. Saves so much time.

I was quite dubious downloading this after the other review, and tried the sample first. I kept getting the message 'not indexed' when using the sample & it didn't seem to work properly- bringing up all the locations of the word typed in. I also looked at the Collin's Dictionary & tried the sample, but this did not have all the scrabble words (and was £20!). So I thought I'd download the full version & see what happened......

It took a while to download but when I tried itout, it worked just like the normal kindle dictionary: a search function at the bottom of the screen, then it brings up the relevant word & a brief definition. No problems! Has all the 2 and 3 letter words for real scrabble geeks!
We take travel scrabble away with us, and it obviously isn't practical to take a full dictionary on holiday (& carry it around!).But this is prefect as the Kindle is light & easy to carry along with the travel scrabble! Let the games begin!

This ebook is a really handy reference - particularly with the Kindle App's option to search text makes it so quick to check a word. A nice feature is that it gives a brief definition of each word so that you feel you're not just playing semi-arbitrary anagrams. Also, it has lists of all the allowed 2- and 3-letter words for handy reference/swotting. The bonus of not having to wave my phone around in hopes of catching a signal in order to google a word clinched the deal for me.

This dictionary is so easy to use on the Kindle. During on-line Scrabble games it is so quick to just enter the required letters and come up with all those weird Scrabble words, It covers all the words for the SOWPODS games. Excellent value for money.

If you can't bring yourself to accept the new and expanded list of words now allowed in Scrabble, stick to a regular, recognised English language dictionary. If, like me, you are playing a CPU or on-line, this will give you an edge and you'll be able to satisfy yourself that said CPU isn't just making stuff up! It is easy to use, although I think it would be tedious to use a kindle version without a touchscreen. I use this on a paperwhite. Happy with the investment as I can lose entire days to Scrabble.

downloaded this while on holiday to help avoid or settle arguments with my siblings. Unfortunately, the search facility is useless on the Android Kindle app, as you cannot see it. This needs Amazon to sort out the Kindle app, but in the meantime Collins should work round this by adding lots of hyperlinks - for example, at the start of the E section, add links to the star of the EA, EB, EC, ED, EE, ... subsections - and continue process this one or two levels further. The would mean that when looking for POLYCROTIC, say, you use the contents list to move to the P section, then click on PO, and then on POL; some scrolling is still needed, but far less than at present (and in this case, scrolling can be reduced by skipping to POM and going backwards). So come on Collins, please re-issue this book with the extra links, and I'll give you a higher rating! And Amazon, please pull your finger out and make your apps more compatible with your devices so that publishers can rely on you!

Dreadful interface when used on the Android Kindle app on a tablet. The 'search' button is invisible (somewhere along the top), and the app tends to hang with a blank screen. It is probably ok on a genuine Kindle, as the word-list is comprehensive and there are chapters on improving your Scrabble.

Great addition to our Kindle. Gives us words we never thought were acceptable or existed! Highly recommend it if you also have a kindle.

I wrote a review a couple of years ago years ago saying that this was excellent on iPad and poor on Android. The developers were unwilling at that time to fix the problem, which rendered it unusable on the Android. At long last, the latest release of Kindle for Android (a few days ago) has fixed the Search function.

It used to take over 11 minutes to do a single word search on Android. Now it's instant, just like on the iPad, Kindle and PC.

5 stars now.
