I own several pairs of these socks now. I find that they are very comfortable for a long day on the Lakeland Fells. They fit snugly around the foot but gently around the lower calf and do not slip down. They are so comfortable I even wear them to work, inside my work boots.

So I went on a 3 day hike in the Lake district last weekend and having no hiking experience at all really bought a pair of each of the Bridgedale "Trail", "Trekker", and "Summit" sock to test between them a different pair each day.

The Trail is the lightest sock rated as 'medium' cushioning and warmth with the Trekker having slightly more of both, and the Summit having maximum cushioning and warmth.

I did notice the difference between them, and the Trekker and Summit felt better, perhaps because they use Merino wool where the Trail uses normal wool. At the end of each day my feet were swollen and hot whichever socks I used, so the difference in 'warmth' didn't affect me as much - they were all warm!

All three were however excellent and didn't cause blisters (although I took extra preventative measures to plaster 'hot-spots' before having the chance). I would recommend all three, but if the price was equal I would probably get the Summit for the extra cushioning, despite being quite hot to wear. All were excellent however.

Good - for lightweight, nice fit.
OK - cushioning
A bit lacking in warmth. The loops snag alot.
Probably not the most hardwearing

Very comfortable, very warm. My only doubt is durability, because the first time on they made little bobbles whereever there is a little rubbing against boots or shoes. I have other Bridgedale socks much older that still look like new. Time alone will tell how durable these Merino socks are, but I shall enjoy having them on until they DO wear out.

Another technical masterpiece from a well respected manufacturer. I have already walked several miles wearing these absolutely without problems. I have no hesitation about recommending these to any fellow walker.

I used to be sceptical about specialised socks. Not any more. They are not cheap but they are long lasting and they really do help the feet and cushion impact. A good buy.

I have bought Bridgedale socks before so am aware of the quality. The Merinofusion sock is very similar to the standard trekker version but uses merino wool in the mix. I have both types and these socks are incredibly comfortable and a bit softer than the standard version. The cuff does not press into your ankle / calf at all. I've seen concerns about durability in other reviews but can't comment other than I've had no problems at all with the standard version over at least 2 years wear. Highly recommended.

Like many folks I've tried many combinations of socks in my boots over the years. Recently I had to replace some of my thousand mile socks and thought that I'd give these Bridgedale's a go. I'm glad that I did.

I read the other reviews that complained of variable sizing etc. Fortunately these fit me just fine and have retained their size and shape after several washes.

In terms of comfort - I've never had walking socks that made my feet feel so supported and, well, pampered. I do most of my walking on mountain paths and the extra cushioning of these socks has meant that I've never had a hotspot since buying them. They're a little pricey - but my view is that it's worth paying extra if it keeps my feet from getting blistered or overheated.

I'll be trying out the other "fusion" socks in the range when the seasons change.

Very well made and finished socks.

Snug without being tight, good support and comfort and hard wearing.

Great for wearing whether you are merely out for a stroll, or a serious hike.

Good value for the price.

Highly recommended.

I bought some Bridgdale socks a few years ago, just for walking in really, nad then bought normal high street socks for everyday use. The trouble is that all the socks I get for everyday use are useless! I've had them from all stores and manufacturers and they all end up getting tight and shrink like crazy, so I looked at Bridgedale for the next replacements.
I bought the Trekker sock for everyday use except the office and haven't looked back. They keep their shape, don't shrink and are all day comfortable.
I have now bought some "lightweight" ones for the office and these are equally as good, I'm now 100% Bridgdale! Socks as socks should be!
