4.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed it!,
This review is from: JUMP (The Senses) (Kindle Edition)Immediately I found myself absorbed in the story, that prologue drew me in and set off a flurry of questions in my mind. I had to know what the hell was going on!
So from there, we flash forward two years and Danielle has no memory of her abduction. She dreams about a man with green eyes who makes her feel safe and protected, but has no real memories. She's frustrated and angry that she can't move on, but she also can't ignore it. I could feel her confusion and sense of helplessness.
I thought Danielle was a great heroine to focus on. She's always been free spirited, but fear holds her back now which makes her angry and frustrated. But she's very strong, and isn't broken by what she's been through. I loved her bluntness, and I could understand all the emotions she felt.
Then there's Balen *swoon*. He's domineering and sexy, and very protective of Danielle. He's tried to stay away from her, to keep her safe but he can't help but be drawn to her again. He's had to make extremely difficult decisions in the past, and is filled with guilt.
Danielle and Balen are physically drawn together, but also develop a passionate and intense love that you just know will last all eternity. They've not got an easy ride to a HEA but they deserve it after all they went through together.
I thought this was a very original take on paranormal romance, and once I started wrapping my head around the different creatures and characters, I was thoroughly immersed in their world.
I liked that this isn't just Balen and Danielle's story, we get glimpses into other characters' lives and tastes of what is to come. I'm particularly interested in seeing what will happen between Waleron and Delara in future books!
This kind of reminded me of Gena Showalter's Lord of the Underworld series, which I love. It has the sexy, alpha warriors, but they each have very clear and individual personalities. Then of course, there's their strong and capable women!
Jump had sexual tension in bucket loads and I loved the chemistry and love between Balen and Danielle. I can't wait to dive into the next book and lose myself all over again in the world of the Senses!
*I received a copy of the book, for my honest review. Thank you!
4.0 out of 5 stars A delightful read!!,
This review is from: JUMP (The Senses) (Kindle Edition)I absolutely love it when authors come up with unique supernatural stories and this is one of those!! The senses are like super heroes, each with a special ability and it doesn't end with them.Cindy Paterson also brings to us a whole slew of supernatural beings and a world that is hidden right underneath our noses.I really enjoyed this book and the love story of Danielle and Balen.
5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to define,
This review is from: JUMP (The Senses) (Kindle Edition)I wasn't sure if I could read this book when I first started it. The prologue opens in the midst of a torture scene. An usual scene in any book but this was a torture scene with a vampire. Vampires don't normally torture, they tend to eat and run. Chapter one is two years later and Danielle is suffering from PTSD. She has little memory of what happened to her except for a man with brilliant green eyes.
Jump is a hard book to classify. It's a vampire book, a love story, a high fantasy battle of supernaturals. And yet it doesn't feel real far-fetched.
It got to the point where I had trouble keeping track of who was what kind of supernatural and what their talents were. Wraiths, Senses, vampires, CWOs, and a goddess. Things that that can affect how I rate a book in a review. I was torn between 4 and 5 stars. When that happens I think about whether or not I want to read the next book in a series (or more books by the same author if it's a standalone book). I bought Step, book 2 in The Senses series, immediately after finishing Jump.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read,
This review is from: JUMP (The Senses) (Kindle Edition)I am 3/4 through this book, very different to my normal books. Very exciting, and things happening all the time. A love story with a difference. Hope the ending is as good as the beginning. A must read for those who like good and evil fighting.
5.0 out of 5 stars JUMP (The Senses),
This review is from: JUMP (The Senses) (Kindle Edition)This has been a most pleasurable read.
Cindy Paterson's "Jump" the senses is set for the most in and around Toronto Canada.
I found the storyline interesting and the Author has spent a good deal of time creating the characters, and have given each one separate personalities and background histories.
One of the things that I liked the most is how she has combined fact and fiction together in a fictional paranormal romance novel, as many of the locations she has used in her book are actual places I have visited or passed through, and so makes the whole story a lot more believable and interesting in my eye's.
I will be reading the next in the series, STEP.
