Mark seems to be an unlucky man on the mountain. His attempts to climb a big one keep getting hampered by the weather. That just makes this another great read in the'Footsteps' series. I am loving them and I have never been trekking or mountaineering before. I get to travel through the Worlds most beautiful landscapes thanks to Marks writing skills, not forgetting some great photos. Another fun decent read.

I was looking forward so much to reading about Cho Oyu with great pleasure and anticipation, another wonderfull book from the excellent Mark Horrell. But I was very dissapointed with the anticlimax at the end of the book, For obvious reasons I will not reveal the end but I really felt this book was just a book just for the sake of writing another one,
However on saying all that, the Discription at the begining of the climb was fantastic, you felt you were along side him and seeing all the spectacular route up to base camp,
Nobody writes in such beautiful detail about the scenery and vistas as Mark Horrell, and always so lighthearted about his fellow companions, But sadly this book for me was not up there with his usual writing, The title was so tantalizing and I truly though another masterpeice coming up, but I though the end let it down, Shelagh

I really enjoy Mark Horrell's books about his climbing and have read a few and will read a few more of his. I am a walker, walking the high and low fells of the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, have done nothing like Mark but have always loved reading climbing books. He is a great story teller and I can imagine I am with him on his travels. Love all his books.

Mark's dry, self-deprecating humor and entertainingly realistic anecdotes will make the mountains and those who seek to tame them come alive for you in living color, warts and all. I can't wait to read the rest of his work.
