Whizzy quick drive (that lasted just over a year)
on 19 September 2012
This was my original 5* review of this product.
"I upgraded to this product from a 64gb SATA II Kingston SSD. This Sandisk product is noticeably quicker and it is lightening fast compared to a traditional HDD.
I'm using win 7 Ultimate 64bit. The Windows install was glitch free and quite quick.
After my BIOS has posted it takes about 7-10 seconds for Windows to load and for my desktop to become usable. Programs like Microsoft Word open instantly with this drive. It scores 7.9 in the Windows Experience Index.
It fits snugly in the SSD bay of my desktop. If you don't have an SSD bay 3.5"-2.5" bay adapters are available separately for less than a fiver.
A minor niggle (this has happened with both SSDs I have owned) - the port where you connect the SATA data cable is now slightly loose and the cable doesn't click into place any more although both drives still work (it was probably from my own ham-fistedness but still, be careful) This hasn't happened on the same ports of any of my HDDs -which I've had a lot more of.
I paid £110 for this in April 2012, Although I'm slightly annoyed that it's now around £45 cheaper just a few months later, I don't regret buying this drive at all, the performance is worth it and at the new lower price, even better value too. I have yet to have any issues with this item but will report back if I do."
Unfortunately this product failed after a year and two weeks of use so I have returned to edit my review. I have replaced it with a new Kingston SSD SATA 3 as my old Kingston SSD is still going strong in a friends computer.
