Whether you're a fan of the series or simply soundtrack and/or orchestral music, this is a wonderful set. There are 3 CDs absolutely crammed with the Shirley Walker's music for the underrated Space: Above and Beyond. You could be forgiven for expecting it to be repetitive, given that it was created for episodic television. However, despite the recurring themes (Which any good soundtrack has, from Star Wars to Star Trek), this is not repetitive at all. There's something for every mood, from action and adventure, to tragedy and grief, to tension and mystery. It's a terrible shame that Shirley Walker passed away so young, as I believe she would have easily become one of the better-known and successful contemporary film composers. At least this set is a great way for her work to be remembered, as it's a brilliant and extensive collection of what she created for Space: Above and Beyond.
The set covers everything from the pilot movie to the last episode, with tracks collected from all of the major episodes in between. There are even a couple of tracks at the end of the last CD, where Shirley can be heard demoing the core themes for the series, in pre-orchestral form. This set shouldn't be missed by either fans or soundtrack collectors.

This CD set has 3 discs, for nearly 4 hours of music. It includes a 30 page colour booklet explaining the music and including guides on creating playlists for the Pilot CD that was released years ago.
The only music missing is the non Shirley Walker tracks, which is a shame, but the quality of the music is superb.
Well recommended to any fan of the show.
