This one would be hard to sell to the youth of today. It is distinctly of its time and yet possibly ahead of its time - how many comedy panel games have we had since? The game format is, as ever, just a way to get a bunch of comedians to tell a lot of jokes, presided over by 'Mr Comedy' himself, Barry Cryer. Some of the jokes are toe-curlingly lame but there is plenty of gold among the dross and it's a nostalgic delight to see these funnymen (no woman, no Cryer...sorry) of yesteryear, doing their stuff. Particularly fascinating is some of the needling between Les Dawson and Ray Martine, which seems to get increasingly less good-natured as the series goes on. One went on to huge success, while the other disappeared without trace. I'd be fascinated to hear what went on behind the scenes...
